I don't think it can be understated how truly impressive Corovii's runs were, especially for the time they were done when nobody else had taken the plunge. I have memories of playing this on ps2 and finding videos to then stumble upon their run and it definitely shook me a bit to see that I could just skip certain parts of the game REAL easily. These runners throughout the years have put in the work to get the run to where it is now and shows how far we can go to break these old licensed games.

Soemthing I appreciate with this game is that it knows how to tell two types of stories with it's levels - a Mystery, and a Villain trying to figure out a spell that's never been cast before, gradually getting closer and closer. For the mystery it starts with the red herring, Quince being blamed for stealing the Jewel as the most obvious suspect. Then later on you investigate Oberon and Titania's mansion as it's the crime scene and you are looking for clues and find out that they are involved, although you don't know how. Also the Chamberlain in his cutscenes doesn't have a shadow so it gives you that clue. Finally you figure out that it's the Shadow Chamberlain (described like that by me to make it a pun as in the UK the Shadow cabinet are basically opposition voices to the ruling party) and beat him. For the second type of story, the villain is trying to figure out how to turn the world into a shadow world using a TV station, magic that's never been done before and he DOESN'T KNOW HOW. His first attempt is a total failure because it just makes Timmy's Dad's dream reflect what he's watching on TV. The second attempt is closer, but backwards as Vicky is put into the show she's watching. Finally, he gets the spell right but on the wrong channel, making the world one ran by monkeys, so by the time you catch up to him he's got all the parts in place and just needs to arrange them correctly. The magic being TV based also explains why it caused Timmy's TV to explode. I also love that it remembers the canon of the show by making the Royal Jewel the most powerful item in fairyworld, as the Magic Muffin already holds the top slot.

Actually Shadow Showdown is the third Fairly oddparents video game in the video game universe because back in 2002, there was a game boy advance game called "Fairly oddParents!: Enter the Cleft" which makes it the first fairly odd videogame in the series with Shadow Showdown being the third in the series.

Idk how apt they are for actual runs, but if anyone has those old flash games archived somewhere for both cartoon network and nickelodeon I'd love to see some speedrun info on those. Three that i remember pretty fondly were the ed edd n eddy food fight game, the fairly odd parents internet cyberspace thing with the e-mail or w/e, and the Foster's home one where you make ur own inaginary friend and just..get to do things lol. I guess speedruns probably don't apply to arcadey stuff with leaderboards for high scores but....maybe info on the strats for getting high scores could be neat, lol.
