A-10 was designed to kill T-72s, which it did kill more of, to the best of my knowledge. Vark is a high speed strike bomber. A-10 is a CAS aircraft. Very different aircraft.

The A-10 is an overrated garbage platform that isn't even that great at it's intended role and the gun that the entire aircraft was designed around isn't even that effective (other than for psychological purposes against ground troops). The fact some morons think it's irreplaceable boggles the mind. If combat effectiveness really mattered to them then we would have just kept the F-111.

@@bigtony4930pretty sure the F-16 killed more tanks than the A-10 did. Also the funny thaing about all this is the one unique feature about the A-10 that makes us call it a tank buster, the 30mm, isn't even that effective at killing tanks, and most tank busting by the A-10 was done with AGM-65's

I spent 6 years of my life maintaining that aircraft. Earlier somebody mentioned that the inner pylons do rotate with wings sweep the outer pylons do not. I also spent just shy of a year in Saudi during the first Gulf war. We did outperform the A10. Unsung heroes of the first Gulf war. 48th tac fighter wing. Woop Woop!!

@@Aidan-fw1xr Learned fast not to trust American air support between A10's and Apaches being trigger happy and not checking FFV. Then again, the Americans didn't fare much better at the hands of their fellow A10's and Apaches.

Ive been waiting a long time for this jet... my grandfather Norman F Armstrong was one of the lead designers for the f-111 he was in control of the weapon systems all the orange wiring throughout the aircraft was his design the stories id hear from that man were the best and forever live with me he was an aeronautical engineer for Lockheed Martin from the 60s until 98 when he retired he got to see and do some truly amazing things

@PhlyDaily I had a few flights in the F-111C (RAAF) back in the '80s, we used to call them the "Pig" because Aardvark literally means ground pig in Afrikaans. Massive bomb load, impressive at mach 2 and using the TFR as hard ride (50m agl). The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) also flew them the longest, 37 years.

Being a father is an amazing thing. I was a single dad with visitation and I made the best of it. My son in almost 23, finishing up his 5th year of college playing division 2 football, while taking his pre veterinary science courses. He has 3 conference championship rings, and is hoping to attend Perdue University for his veterinarian courses. I missed out on so much as a single father, but I was always there rain or shine when I could no questions asked. What I'm saying is this, the channel you have, and the viewers who complain when you don't post are insignificant. Do you as a father, as a husband, and I'll see you in the next video no matter how much time is in between. I'm happy for you young man. Best of luck, and Merry Christmas.

An amazing airframe. Back in 1993 I was in Army TacOps for 2nd BDE, 1st ID. My USAF LNO was an old F-111 driver. Because we all had security clearance, we got to hear all kinds of great stories. Including stuff not readily known about the Libya raid in the 80's which he was part of.

I have almost got an ace in this thing, 4 kills and 2 bases. For the top 6 111 is my grinder. Now we just need the 111D and 111F. Hopefully, using Gaijin logic, the 111D gets its Aim-7Gs. And it has MTI as well, so it should be a great package, as well as slightly better engines. The 111F is just to nuke stuff on the ground with the likes of the AGM-130. Also, the radar dispite not being PD, or even MTI, is amazing on this thing. It keeps its lock so well at low alt, and its J band so barely anyone will know you have locked them. And the lead indicator is very helpful as well.

If i remember correctly the two inner hardpoints do swivel on the f-111 and the two outer hardpoints do not swivel. I am unsure but maybe someone with more knowledge could confirm, although I do believe they could mount the munitions on the outer hardpoints at an angle where the wings could sweep and then they would be inline.

The first two pylons on the real F111 pivoted with the wing sweep. I could not find any specific data on wing sweep limitations with the gun pods. As far as I can tell, these were rarely, if ever, fitted.

All versions of the F-111 were equipped with "Pivot" Pilons which allowed the pilons to pivot into the wind but this was limited to either 45 or 54 degree wingsweep.

Fun fact: the F-111 outperformed the A-10 in every conceivable way, took fewer losses and was an even better tank buster. And yet, for some reason, we scrapped this thing instead of the dumb warthog.
