The main limitation (bug) of this module is that you can't change position in multiplayer mission, like in offline ones. Due to expensive prize of this module, many friends didn't buy it. So it's difficult to fly with a Rio. My training for the moment consist in: take off as pilot, change to Rio office ordering to ai piloti to reach wpt and height, firing phoenix to designate enemy tgts in tws mode between 20-19 miles range, at the end by pilot side engaging with sparrows, sidewinders, gun, using PLM/VS, carrier landing.

Yeah PAL is great, use it quite a bit as it has some range to it (15nm I think) although in the fighter pilot podcast the F14 pilot stated he never used it and it was hard to switch on as it was a small switch under the canopy rail. I can't confirm, but while the pilot gets high/low vert bindings in DCS, I think the switch was actually just in the RIO slot. That is how they made it sound in kzbin.info/www/bejne/jITafYZ7hs-rnMk . Said the RIOs would even mod the switch to be easier to grab.

Roma Krelian , yes totally I have targets on my nose and he will not lock them up . Very frustrating, I've noticed a big drop in F14 in servers . Not sure if last patch - May - has screwed things up .

I completely forgot about the other modes… when I switched hard drives I only remapped PLM… couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get the mode with the seeker scanning left to right to left up and down…

Because the 54 doesn’t turn it’s radar on until a few seconds after launch…

Old post, but I assume it was for a furball when you have enemy and friendlies mixed in and you wanted to quickly filter. The F14 was made for Vietnam (but didn't make it in time for combat)

My jester literaly wont spot enemys on radar beyond 90 nautical miles. Any ideas why? I have left all his settings on auto. It doesn’t matter how long i wait nothing comes up.

@@grimreapers Well it has literally 3x the range (4x the range with all the "bugs") of any other missile used in multiplayer. You'd think they would create a module that would not instantly break multiplayer .

@@seb9425 It was a piece of shit scud missile designed to engage un-manouvering bombers actually. Also meant to be guided all the way up to quite close to the huge target. Heatblur is slowly and sneakingly making it into some sort of fictional super amraam though lol. Gotta sell those modules.

​@tmright18 If you watched the making of by Heatblur they showd the Aim-54 was designed and tested on F-5's making 7G turns to simulate engaging MiG-21's. After design the role the navy decided it should be used for was Bomber interception and primarily over price issues. The missile was designed as an anti fighter missile, cost regulated to Bomber interception.
