Thank you, there are many fuses that work with the ignition. If you got to 13:07 you can see which fuse I used located behind the passenger side kick panel, but you can use which ever fuse you want.

It does not to stay plugged in . Once the tune is loaded onto your truck you can unplug it and remove it from the truck.

Will this tuner handle upgrades such as k&n cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust without the need for a custom tune? I tried an SCT X4 but was unhappy that this upgrades required a custom tune, which would have been another $400 on top of the tuner that was advertised as being able to handle the minor modifications.

We installed this BullyDog and used it in our truck with a cold air intake and an exhaust without any issues and it ran great. A custom dyno tune will always be the best way to go to get the most out of the tuner and the mods, but it's not required. You can simply install the bullydog and follow the on screen prompts for a basic tune, but i promise you wouldn't regret getting a custom tune either.

good morning, I have one concern. I received my bully dog this last wednesday and installed it, yesterday was fine, but today when I was heading out the door, I found some water spots on the concrete under my truck, it's a 2016 f150 twin turbo ecoboost 3.5. I never seen those water spots before up until yesterday after installing the tuner, do you have an idea if it's related to the tuner? or if it's a common problem on the truck? or something I might need to have checked out ? I've got my truck since last November. please help me.

If its just water and not coolant, its probably condensation from using the air conditioning/defroster, or water from the exhaust, the exhaust makes a ton of water.

Beware!!! This tuner fried the ecm on my 2010 f150. Bully dog customer service said have it towed to the dealer and they would pay for repairs. Once the dealer gave them a price on a new ecm they refused to pay. (They didn’t even pick up the tow bill). I filed a complaint with the bbb and bully dog wouldn’t respond.

Only possible way it’ll fry the ECM is if you use a certain octane gas and choose a different octane tune, for example you fill up on 83 and then choose the Premium (93) tune, as he states in the video it’ll give you problems. Or choosing the wrong vehicle when you’re setting up your tuner

Wow the comments below… I really respectfully disagree… 1) the wire routing/layout …if I caught my mechanic slobbing wires behind and through my air controls I would be very concerned… this install was for me.. not very “ craftsman like”. 2) I am interested in having the ability to a) have a tuner/box b) plug it in to the OBD port.. c) re-set the trans shift points… d) MAYBE leave the tuner control head connected for a trip or two to compare shift point selections… and then maybe chose a different shift point set… e) disconnect the stuff, put it back in the box and leave it in one of my boxes of “ rarely used tools” I am totally not interested in tweaking…and tweaking..and tweaking… Reliability… simplicity… controlling the trans to maintain more torque ..WHEN REALLY NEEDED.. while also minimizing stress on the engine and trans for longer life and keeping best fuel economy… I am NOT interested in building a race truck that is more prone to failure. Which takes me back to the beginning…. Craftsman like install…. Hmm

Why does the programmer need to stay connected? in 25 years we came from being able to rechip one to having two goofy boxes stuck to it all the time like some sort of colostomy bag. Why didn't you just put it through the wire gland behind the steering column and to the battery?

It doesn't NEED to stay connected once you install the tune, but if you want to use it for performance testing or for gauges its a good idea to connect it to an ignition source. If you just connect it to the battery or OBDII port it will stay on forever and drain the battery.

That delay is most likely because of the electronic throttle body, I can;t guarantee the Bully dog will help with that.

Brian Smith I have a 2014 Ford F-150. None of my fuses work. Also I have low profile mini fuses which won't work with the fuse tap that was included in the package for the bully dog gt tuner. I bought a low profile mini fuse tap but it doesn't work with the fuse panel because it doesn't go deep enough. I've been doing as much research as possible to figure this out and can't find anything to help me. I've called bully dog tech support and hey have no answers for me. In other words they sell it to you saying it works for my truck, but ultimately it doesn't. Bully dog is about to get their item back and I'm about to get my money back.

Hello I'm currently installing this on my 2014 Ford F-150. I have it all set up but I'm having a problem. My fuses on my truck are ATT type fuses which don't work with the fuse to wire adapter that came with the bully dog. I went and bought ATM fuses and used it since it had longer blades. I put it on the ignition fuse which you recommended, but the chip stays on even with the ignition off. It is set to key and not battery on the bully dog. So what is my problem? Can I use ATM fuses on an ATT fuse block? Why is it still running power to the display but the ignition is off? Can't figure it out. Thanks

If you have a test light or multi meter, check and make sure that fuse is actually an ignition switched fuse and also check the adapter you installed on the fuse. If it is for certain an ignition switched fuse, disconnect the power wire from the Bully Dog and leave the box set to key. If the Bully Dog won't turn off then maybe it's possible that box is defective.
