It's important to note this is a cluster without the stopping pins. Like you would see on most older model cars. So great video, clear and well spoken. Many thanks

Exactly 😂 & I have stopping pins … so wtf am I supposed to do?
@nickleoni72412 жыл бұрын
@@sierracollins7187 it's a pain. Pretty sure it is easier to have it calibrated by an Auto electrician. They will attach a cable into a female jack that's in the back of the unit from memory. It's very small and like that of a computers. You will find it on the motherboard (green thing).....from memory. Or you are suppose to do a full rotation on the pin and keep adjusting....very annoying way

Did this today on my 2007 F150, i would still reccommend taking note of where the needles are before removing. I found that when checking my speedometer against my gps, it was showing 5 km faster than the gps speed, i had to move needle one "click" counter clockwise to correct it. Excellent video, it really helped me.

I remember the good old days of older vehicles, having to use a speedometer cable to measure your speed, and how the needles on the cluster would flutter up & down. On my father’s 1987 GMC Suburban, the speedometer cable broke, and I had to re-install a new one. A real chore.

Geez man, I should’ve watched this first. I figured this out on my own today after scratching my head. I had a fuel gauge that was being a pain in the butt and only reading up to 3/4 of a tank one fall and it would stop it a quarter of a tank. I found a spot on motherboard that needed to be resoldered and fixed the issue. I took that darn plastic clear cover off to three times until I finally got my fuel gauge to go to empty one shut off in up past fall. It was being a pain in the butt and only going to a few times so I don’t know what the deal was, but it seems to be working now just fine. Knock on wood. The last couple of times it went to 3/4 of the way, and then after running for 15 seconds it climbed up to full. Seems to go to full or just a hair over now, which is just fine with me and goes right down to empty when I shut off my truck.

My ‘02 F150 has pins on speedo and tach. How does this method work in my situation?
@derekf54614 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen any that are pinned in place. I would say so long as it's a press fit you shouldn't need the pins. Unless you are wrapping the needles out 😏
@DrivingIntelligence4 жыл бұрын
Derek Foote there are pins at 0 and 100 mph, same with tach. They limit range.
@derekf54614 жыл бұрын
If you have zero and 100 pins as long as your careful when you pull it apart and put it back together you should have to worry about "recalibrating" it. If that makes sense
@DrivingIntelligence4 жыл бұрын
Derek Foote Thanks, for some reason my speedo and tach her off but I’ve never pulled the needles. I swapped from an F150 to a navigator gauge set
@derekf54614 жыл бұрын
The swap its self may be the issue. I may be speaking out of the side of my face here. Are the gauges sweeps different between the two? Example think of a clock, if the distance between 10 and 2 on the f250 differed from 10 and 2 on the navi there will be an issue.

Maybe I messed up, but this didn’t work for me on my ‘04 F150. Most of the gauges were way off. To reset: with the trick off, press and hold the little reset pin on the cluster while you turn the key to the “run” position. Release after the gauge cluster reads “TEST”. The needles will sweep and reset themselves.

I have a 94 Mustang and this would not work for mine. So on my mile per hour and RPM there's a little black rubber stop and you have to pull those out to even turn the needle all the way around. So anyway I pulled those off and then I tried what this video the way the video says but there is no stop you can just turn the needle all the way around all the way around other way around. And I actually back in the day after changing up the worm and drive year to get the odometer working, back then I figured out how to get the needles in the right position. But being so you know if so long ago I forgot. So anyway what you have to do with mine is switch the car on not start it and then put them on and make sure it stops right below zero on both the RPM and the mile per hour. Because when you put the little rubber stop back in it's going to be at the right position below zero.

@JCA116 жыл бұрын
04? it doesnt have a stopping point, thats why it has a needle stop pin below the 0. u can spin the needle and it will freely spin like wheel all the around lolol. or turn the cluster upside down and watch it move as gravity takes over. u can try to do the key trick. push and hold the trip button then turn the key to ACC only (do not start the engine) and watch it all sweep. now the sweep is pretty unique as the needle points to all the markings. check out the ram key trick here on KZbin and youll see wat i mean.
@JCA115 жыл бұрын
@@williamulery6104 if it has a pin It shouldn't have a stopping point from the needle itself, that pin is the stopping point. Now if ur trying to calibrate it, turn the car to on position , remove the uncalibrated needle, and get it to point at 0, as for fuel gauge, I can't help u with that. Temp gauge make sure then engine is cold.
@Kyle-ri1kb7 жыл бұрын
Do you do that to all of them. 2 clicks back for each?
@derekf54616 жыл бұрын
Be mindful that the "clicks" you are speaking of are just the needles over coming friction on the shaft. So it may be different for every application. Just play around with it and see what you get.
