Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I’ve watched it through about 10 times in 2 days while trying to get this done. I broke one of the caps when trying to press it in enough to clip it on the first try, but I got it the next day. Great video!

Glad it helped. I had to rap the yoke tap the caps a little till the clips finally went it. It's a tight fit.

I have a 2003 F-150. The torque specification is 80 ft # for the bolts. Very good video.

My 2014 has a carrier bearing, twice as much fun! Might try using one of those grease needles one way or another, have to ponder that

Not sure what you mean, this is basic u-join repair

We're the factories solid cores? If not I have an idea to grease them then tack the drill hole closed
@jonparkmac2 жыл бұрын
I would suggest using them as designed and not modifying them by tacking anything

Is that an aftermarket aluminum driveshaft? Considered replacing mine with one of those due to rust since the truck came from up north
@jonparkmac10 ай бұрын
Pretty sure it's stock. This truck was 2013 and also came from up north. Fortunately it wasnt driven much so not much rust elsewhere. It's unclear to me which years had factory aluminum. If it's just surface rust I'd leave it.
@kevinsaint2010 ай бұрын
@@jonparkmac Ah gotcha. I have a 2012 and it’s rusted somewhat bad. I think it’s technically still surface though. May take a wire brush to it. spray it down with some Ospho, and call it a day. Thanks for the reply brother! One more thing, have you heard anything about the 5.0 engines having valve issues for these year model trucks? I think yours is the Ecoboost but just curious if you had heard that. Saw a few blogs talking about it and it’s got me considering selling this thing and getting something else but didn’t know if that was truly common or not

There was an issue with intake valves leaking, but I don't know the frequency of it. We only here about issues, the vast majority are fine. www.engineprofessional.com/TB/TB022117-1.pdf

@@jonparkmac Awesome, thanks so much for that! I’ll probably keep it and see how it goes. I know head work isn’t cheap but it’s probably worth the risk. Thanks again!

My 02 f150 i can get a 1/2 drive 12p socket with 3" Harbor frieght extension the ones with some extra movement an small air gun

Not following ..for what ..removing the flange bolts are pressing out the joints. Neither will work with a small airgun

Why are you not showing How did you took out the aluminum yoke?
@jonparkmac3 жыл бұрын
You do not take out yokes. You need some basic mechanic skills for this my friend.

Did you have problems with the u-joint fitting on the tranny end?
@KingVonSelect Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the spoil? Because if you have trouble fitting it in you just put some grease on the shaft before you put it into the tranny
@Tuhcuh3 жыл бұрын
But did it fix the problem?
@jonparkmac3 жыл бұрын
Yep works great. Along with lithium grease in other areas
@@jonparkmac idk what's going on with mine then its a 16 can't find u joints no where , tried a Moog 331 to dam wide

@@alicegarrison5426 maybe take your old one to Ford parts dept, ask for new one, and compare them on the spot. Not moog or spicer, but may be an option

Oops, I meant the rear end, I fought both bu could not make the one on rear end go in enough to put clips on.
@jonparkmac3 жыл бұрын
I had needle drop and got between cap and joint, had to take it apart and redo and fixed that. Even after that it is still pretty tight and hard to get the clips in. So make sure you didn't drop a needle, clean out the clip grooves real good. Rap the base of the yoke real hard with a hammer to vibrate the caps into perfect align because they can bind.

Skip, skip, skip, man it was the details I was hoping for with this long video but all the little details where skipped, this tutorial’s good but leads to tutorial for other things. For example knowing how and what I’d need to grease ujoints among other little things, all round good vid, missing details

Fair enough, sometimes I'm accused of too many details too . Point taken tho...thanks
