@@MaxAfterburnerusa I’ve heard vr takes a bit of work and fiddling to get the same performance as just on a monitor but there’s an ex f14 pilot/ Rio who’s done a video on the topic on KZbin so shouldn’t be too bad if you do go into vr dcs

@Bob-68 Жыл бұрын
@@liamoneal7643 That'll depend on the headset, GPU and the settings you use. I'm using a Quest 2 with an RTX 4070, and it's not too bad. There are a lot of videos on here with various hardware and settings for VR.

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out this video. It's the Gray Ghosts first time in the Viper in DCS. He flew 2,000 hours of fighter time including combat time. Be on the look out for episode 2 and 3 (linked below) and more content from the Gray Ghost. Stay Fast! Here's episode 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpOylZJmaq2Jd8U

Small tip... You have a good size KZbin channel. A VR headset would be a tax write off.

I notice you have to roll your head all the way back to look up, making it clearly uncomfortable to see the target. I would recommend setting your response curve to nonlinear in such respect that tracking down the target inside your front view cone is very smooth, but maximum 'look up' (80-90°) is corresponding to head position where you can comfortably see the upper half of the screen or more. I personally use TrackIR, and my view pitch curve is set with the following rough correspondence: Virtual - Real 10° - 5° 20° - 7° 30° - 9° 45° - 12° 80° - 17° 90° - 18° This allows for comfortable track of targets in all air combat games I play without noticeable eye strain. It's not a universal recipe, but the response curve developed with the above principles in mind: smooth center, comfortable max angles. As for people crying 'VR' in comments, please note that it is a very specific beast, great for 'WOW! effect', but with its own huge set of quirks. From playing perspective, having a large screen with a head tracker like you do is far more preferable.

Have you seen the mig 21 cockpit the (Polish) guy built in his house part by part with actual mig parts. All the gauges, buttons and switches are properly hotkeyed.

If possible, increase the pitch gain on your head tracker. You should easily be able to look across the circle. Whatever profile you're using seems better suited for something like MSFS than for DCS.

I've got the same rudders as you - Suddenly stopped working and the Thrustmaster Pendular wasn't even in/registered in my control setup list. - Step 1 make sure the USB is using one of the front tower usb slots (it don't like multi slot hubs) step 2 plug - unplug USB (audio du-du-du) Step 3 Control setup (bottom right -RESCAN DEVISES) should recognise the pendular system- Worth a try!

I mean, I get that you're using a Warthog throttle and the buttons aren't mapped where they are on the actual F-16 throttle, but why didn't you use the ACM radar modes like vertical scan or HUD scan, and why weren't you uncaging Sidewinders? Lot of missiles launched with no tone. I have found it helps to turn the HMD on. Not necessarily to use it to aim, but I find it helps a lot with keeping track of your energy state, which makes up for the poor audible and nonexistent tactile feedback on your energy state in the simulation. It's a lot harder to quickly glance back and forth between the HUD and opponent when using a head-tracker than when looking in real life, so having the speed readout in the same place in the screen on the HMD makes up for it.
@CanadianDad73 Жыл бұрын
I also just realized that, with HMD on and then switch the AIM9X from Slave to Bore, you can get tone at much greater angles and launch high-aspect kills. It was a game changer.
@1Richmondone Жыл бұрын
Can never see the HUD clearly. I would like to see the power settings, and power lever position. Airspeed, altitude, Verticle speed. Are any of the above necessary , or is most of it by the seat of your pants. I can tell it's very situational, but almost never the same thing happening.
