Good stuff, Neo, and thanks for the support! Just a couple notes, the F-15E is a product of our talented 3rd party partner, RAZBAM Simulations. Also, you'll need to flip up the Master Arm switch next time to pew pew pew.

You should look into getting TrackIR head tracking. It's cheaper and easier to set up than VR and doesn't affect how well the game runs on your pc

Yeh but don't forget the muscle memory he's developed flying the real thing compared to what we have learned using TrackIR. Didn't you notice how after the merge he instinctively is lifting his head up to follow the Su27. For us we train ourselves to move our heads very little to get a huge change in the view point from the cockpit. I honestly think it must be very difficult for someone who recognizes the cockpit and knows how everything works to do 'sims' the way we have done. And most of us couldn't have done what he's done also for many reasons.

Just having an hour or two in a Cessna is a lot of fun just for the experience even if you don't plan to go further. There's not rules that learning to fly means to have to even qualify if you think about it, they will take your money and you can get the experiences you want from it, if you tell an instructor that they will totally get it and understand. I got my PPL when I was 18 in the US, I'd flown in the UK a little before that, my dream was to be an airforce pilot but my eyesight was terrible, my next dream after getting my PPL was to fly commercial but there was no way I could have afforded it so in the end I got to do some really fun stuff and have a bunch of cool memories :) Since you are in the US you could even try to get a ride in the back of a WW2 aircraft or do a little aerobatics ,there's so many possibilities.

What I like is that you show lots of respect for the Wizzos. There are other fighter pilots out there who consider them to be just talking ballast. Maybe they are indeed not needed in 1vs1 dogfights, but in more realistic scenarios I believe they are force multipliers. Despite all the computer aid in modern platforms. And with some of the new radars which seem to allow AA and AG at the same time Wizzos might have even a greater impact.

"And for jettisoning the master arm needs to be on for both selective and emergency jettison." I would have thought the real pilot knows how to jettison, but hey, everyone can make mistakes. The term "Armed to the teeth" comes from the days of tall ships and pirates where they would carry as many weapons as they could all the way down to a knife held in the teeth. Bach then there wasn't any semi autos so for one shot they needed to carry one gun, so they carried as many loaded guns as they could and disposed of them as they shot them and then used the knife. The Jolly Roger Skull and Cross Bones: An early use of a black flag with skull, crossbones, and hourglass is attributed to pirate captain Emanuel Wynn in 1700, according to a wide variety of secondary sources. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolly_Roger The Crossbones comes from the fact that when any body was buried and then exhumed after burial the arms were crossed on the chest so when the body decomposed the common sight was the skull with crossed forearm bones underneath.

I'm pretty casual with the modern stuff (only so many penguins can fit on the iceberg) and mainly stick to the Hornet, but this beast deserves my attention, especially with the variety of sensors. I appreciate the perspective and stories you've included in this video. Subscribed and will keep watching - that stuff really adds to our enjoyment of DCS and appreciation for the profession. Good tip about the short shorts too, rocking some sweet frog skin right now which definitely aids in productivity at work and at play. @appa609
@appa609 Жыл бұрын
the center stick blocks the center console display a bit. Sidestick leaves the middle of the cockpit clear.
@skydriver5709
@skydriver5709 Жыл бұрын
Center stick is held while supporting your whole arm weight (fatigue), and requires movement of the whole arm to the shoulder to move the stick where you want it to go. With a side stick, your arm is resting and you're just controlling the stick with the hand and wrist, and it also allows for much more controlled and precise movement. Notice all combat pilots and simmers almost never mount their joystick to simulate a center stick. Side is just more natural, more comfortable, more accurate and less stressful. If we had an arm growing out of the center of our chest, center stick would be great. It was never ergonomic. Airbus also uses a one-handed side stick on all their commercial airliners, rather than the center yoke like Boeing and other airliners.

Even if I only flew the F16 in DCS I wouldn't use a center stick. I like boobs too much for that sillyness. lol

@@skydriver5709 I respect your opinion but I am much more accurate with a center stick myself, side stick feels so unnatural to me off center. On helicopters which require high precision inputs, they use center sticks though there might be exceptions I am not aware of. I've not flown jets, just ULMs but you can control a center stick with the tip of your fingers. Modern jets have good hydraulic assisted controls, you do not need much strength to move the stick and can input more precise inputs in my opinion since a center stick is longer so you have more amplitude for accurate adjustments and the stick being in the center aligned with the nose of your aircraft helps in my view.

Love the video. TrackIR will be a great help. Cheaper than VR and might be better for your videos than VR.
