The F-35A (the least expensive variant) comes in at $78 million per plane for lot 14, which is in fact cheaper than many 4th generation aircraft like the F-15EX ($87.7 million), the Dassault Rafale ($115 million), Saab JAS Gripen ($85 million) or Eurofighter Typhoon ($124 million), just not the F-16. I'm pretty sure in terms of cost to run... it's cheaper to fly.. if you are talking about its technology based advances, yes it's expensive to maintain its on board flights systems at the moment.. there is an older tech that allows for seemless transition to autonomy though. F16 wise. The expensive Viper is fair for it's capabilities.

All f 16 are vipers. Viper is the nickname of it same with fighting falcon, it’s the same with f22 RAPTOR or f 15 EAGLE it’s the same plane maybe slightly upgraded but its still the same plane one just has conformal fuel tanks

The F-16 block 70/72 is NOT more expensive than a 5th generation jet. The F-16 block 70/72 comes in at $64 million per plane, whereas the F-35A (the cheapest variant) is $78 million per plane. The F-16 has always been one of the most affordable fighter jets on the planet, and it still is with the F-15EX costing $87.7 million, the Saab JAS Gripen E/F at $85 million, the Dassault Rafale at $115 million and the Eurofighter Typhoon at $124 million. Christ even the Russian Sukhoi SU-35 Flanker is more expensive at $85 million per plane, and Russian planes are held together with vodka and hope.

these are both f16 vipers, for anyone who is misinformed, the f16 used to be called the fighting falcon then it was renamed viper, the "f16viper" in this case is a f16 block 52 upgarede of the viper ;))
