Hey there former Navy sailor here CTR2(IDW/SW) and at the start of the video they mention the F-35 is capable of aircraft carrier operations but that ship shown is the USS Bonhomme Richard LHD-6 a Wasp class Amphibious Assault ship. The Wasp class was a design evolution from older traditional carriers and heli carriers so it's often mistaken for conventional fixed-wing aircraft carriers. The LHD stands for Landing Helicopter Deck. Typically they carry the MV-22 Osprey, AV-8B Harrier II, AH-1 Cobras and some CH-53 Sea Stallions. There are others but these are the most common on the flight deck. The LHD ships are basically a mobile landing strip for Marine aircraft but also have a number of sea to shore small craft like the LCAC, LCU and LCM. Sometime in the mid 2010's they started playing around with the F-35 being able to launch off the LHD platform but there was alot of issues early on. I've been out now for over 6 years so I'm not entirely informed on the current status of it but I would imagine they've made some headway. Also for those even further curious enough in July of 2020 the Bonhomme Richard was heavily damaged by a massive chemical fire and the repairs were estimated to be about over 3 billion dollars and would take several years to complete. The Wasp Class I believe is only valued around 1 billion to construct and so the decision was made that she be decommissioned and sold for scrap.

Honestly, look at the specs of Russian sukhoi 35, it's truly another category. Or even compare it to the French Rafale. It's much better. There are reports they picked the wrong outer material for F35, the plane collects rust. If they couldn't get this simple part right, it says a lot about the overall performance of the plane. The vertical landings look cool and all, but if planes from other countries are 100 years ahead in terms of performance, we could say it's shit.

@@jstephenallington8431 It's the door to the intake, the original design didn't even have it that way, but two side doors instead. It's open on takeoff because the lift-fan is running. My Company designed and built these despite the disagreements between the Army, Navy, and Airforce. It's kinda like designing the perfect commuter car based upon input from every commuter in the Country! Will it go fast when needed yet still get affordable gas mileage? Will the emissions meet government standards? Will it handle racecar as well as grocery getting capabilities? Will it be maneuverable in a parking lot? What colors would you like? Automatic or 6 speed? 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, 8 cylinder or 12 cylinder? Will it have BlueTooth Capability and/or concert status audio? Will it be affordable and desirable to all economic classes? What will the Warranty period be? It was a tough battle but eventually something came of it! The thing of it is, in our supposedly conscientiously fiscal responsibilities and RFP Government environment where lowest bidder wins the prize, I'm surprised that anything was accomplished! Imagine if you will, you respond to a Request for Proposal and your approved bid is $25m per plane yet each of the different services want's something which none of the other services need or want which brings the cost of the plane to over $30m? (And you wonder why there are $650 hammers?) Believe it or not, ALL of these various inputs dictate the success or failure of a specific design. Many have failed but this one was a success.

The thing is it wouldn't get damaged. An F-35s purpose is to stay as far away from the battle as possible because that's where it operates the best. Its primary role is BVR engagements, if an invasion were to happen the F-35s role would be to destroy air targets first then once it doesnt need to worry so much about stealth aspects it can carry bomb loads. If an F-35 gets battle damage than the F-35 failed its primary mission.

What exactly you trying to say? 😂 the USAF has got bases and recruitment stations all over the world at this point, they have their own aircraft stationed in the UK, Italy and South Korea, also Poland and other European countries. The Air Force literally owns earths orbit at this point with the GPS satellite network. The USAF, USMC, and US Army do not care about 80 years ago, back then was different fighting, not like today where you take s BVRM like the Meteor and snipe a MiG-29S from 60 miles and he can’t do anything about it because the missile ignores flare or chaff, the Russian R-70 is literally useless compared to the Meteor, the guidance system is terrible. So now tell me how the Soviet aircraft feel when they know something like an F-22 or F-35 is in their vicinity. They don’t even get notified that a missile has been launched at them until too late, due to the advanced guidance the modern AAMs have from the US

@@charleslacombe359 time ---might---- tell, but I'm really not convinced about the need for jump jets. At first it was cold war delirium for makeshift improvised airfields Now it's about making helicopter carrier pretend to be aircrafts carrier. Because nobody want to give proper funding to the USMC to put catapult on their amphibious assault ships. Feels like if someone heard about shared plateform for cars, and decided to do the same for planes, but without understanding really well how it was done... look like more time was spend making the planes look the same rather than focusing on their needed specific tasks. ALSO: I gave the example for the F15 for the USAF. But the same is done by the USNA focusing on their Super Hornet. A plane that I felt was like a discount F14 back in the days but who proved to be fit for any job you threw at him. Add this to the energy some wasted to try to get rid of the A10 who now also seemed to be scheduled to return into production in an improved form and you get a really bizarre picture of how things are being done in the american army these days.

vertical landing is not practical in combat situation it take more time than conventional landing which still take less time but it also depend on pilot skill but personally i think it unnecessary it increase maintenance cost and production cost 1. fighter need more stealth 2.less maintenance time and cost 3.need more toughness on bad weather and other climate condition need 4.very good radar 5.less production cost it can be higher if figher does have very low maintenance cost 6.have various armament choose then thats a good fighter but most 5th gen lack 2,3,5 those are one of key feature to keep a fighter operational but 6th gen will have that now most military realised that and about stealth it only work for year so then new radar design comes and stealth don't work but it still debatable because there no field use of stealth fight so its hard to tell

@@orlock20 I know that. What I can't find is the practical payload - that means, ordnance plus fuel - of the F-35B for STOL operations from the QE class carriers. See, it is unlikely that a QE's air group could establish total air superiority over even a moderate land-based air force. That would imply that all operations would have to remain stealthy, which in turn means internal loads only. So what, in practical terms, can an F-35B carry to target? How far, given that the F-35B would be _avoiding_ threats from an air defence network? What it carries, how far, is the main measure of how useful a strike aircraft it is.

Lack of enthusiasm for a fighter doing vtol with stow away weapons from a carrier shows you don't understand what you are really looking at. I guess at face value without a Michael bay trailer its boring, for you.

ill make my first jet fighter more than anything, missile carrier rotation can rotate in any direction will make a target forward backward left side and right side, if your enemy is at the back the missile carrier rotation of course will rotate backward easily shot the target without maneuvering to the proper position to lock the target. When applying jet roll the pilot will no longer roll with the jet, the pilot area will on its steady position even if the jet rolls many times pilot will no longer suffer motion sickness or stress because of jet roll even if the jet fly up side down there is no effect on the pilot because the pilot area stay on a steady position.
