A flight simulator released in 1990 by Digital Image Design for the Amiga.
It has got very nice graphics, good sound, it's fast and it offers plenty of missions in 4 different maps.
Even though it lacks in realism and the controls are a bit touchy, it is still a fun game to play.
So, its nice graphics and easy game-play made it quite popular on the Amiga

2 little facts I recall about this game.... 1) The hit boxes were not as complicated as the objects you could see on the ground, so if you went for a close pass, you'd smash into invisible objects. 2) On a magazine disk they released a bonus mission disk. This mission disk put you on a strange EXTRA campaign where you ended up fighting an armada of ALIEN ships including a mother ship!!!! This was a kind of advertising campaign for their up and coming space combat shooter, EPIC, which featured the exact same ships as you got in the extra F29 missions. It was really cool. The first time you encountered the ALIENS, your radar went crazy which really added to it.

I remember that they keep adding that alien space ships thing in later titles too, like in F-22 Air Dominance Fighter \ Total Air War.

Had a row with my then girlfriend because I'd woken her up by shouting "Pull up . . . PULL UP . . . PULL UP!!" in my sleep while thrashing about in the bed :D That was after she bought me the F29 Amiga pack for Christmas about 30 years ago. Came to KZbin to search for this after spending the evening playing Ace Combat 7 in VR on the PS4. How far the state-of-the-art has come!!!

F18 Interceptor was my first Amiga sim. I was lucky enough to borrow the local computer shops promo copy.

Anybody remember the onboard camera you could use for the cruise missiles and watch them hit the target? I also remember if you bombed the oil storage things... there was a little black oil spill :) Loved this game... all 50 pixels of it :)

Hell yeah I used those missiles for all ground targets just because I liked looking at the camera. Except for the ground vehicles, the cluster bombs were sweet too

I played this sim in a net and using a rs232 port too ... It was my first PvP.. what a great times!!! The best graphics in that time

I dont recall this having RS232 play but I could be wrong. Probably am lol. I used to play F16 Combat Pilot via RS232 all the time though. Great times.

Why doesn't anyone make games like this these days? - just enough "Sim" that you feel like you're actually doing something, but not so much arcade that it just becomes another shooter? This, Fighter-Bomber, F19 and Interceptor. Great fun. Unfortunately I think some sims were so complex they actually caused people to lose interest in the genre - and sims eventually faded from view. Imagine what Interceptor would be like with modern graphics and sound! but with that accessible gameplay!

They should have made Wing Commander with vector graphics too. Maybe it would have been faster then. Vector’s don’t use as much memory as bitmaps.

I had this game, but was never able to get it to run on a real Amiga. Sometimes, depending on degrader combinations, it would boot to the setup screens but it would always crash immediately upon loading the cockpit. I had NTSC A500 with fastram and KS 1.3

It's UAE's "Real A500" floppy sound option. The default sounds nothing like an Amiga drive.
