I find that these Burgmuller Etudes continue to be wonderful exercises, warmups, and even studies in technique, for pianists far beyond the typical grades they are assigned. They can easily continue to teach pianists into grade 8, 9, and 10, if tempo is increased and the musical demands placed on the student are high. Here, I present to you two performances of "La Petite Réunion," one of the first studies in thirds given to students. The first is an example of what an advanced student should strive to play. The second is an example of a good intermediate-level goal. Hope you enjoy, and a Masterclass on this piece is coming soon!

I’m looking forward to your master class on this. When I had to stop going to my piano teacher after four months of lessons, she had me playing the first three of the 25 pieces. She quickly went through several and for this one she told me to use the same two fingers for all the double thirds, didn’t matter which two. I’ve been confused by her instructions, so I haven’t tried this one, but I need practice with double thirds.

Brenda, that instruction is something that I cover in the class. (which I just filmed this morning!). I'll also be doing No. 2, Arabesque as well... I've already filmed my performance of it, but the class on it probably is a month or so away.

It sounds educational Charles, very light and airy, It's in C?
@PianistAcademy1 Жыл бұрын
Yes, in C. Compared to Czerny or Hanon, it's a much more musical way to learn a good execution of 3rds!
