I just finished watching the entire masterclass on thinkific. Super, super helpful!! In addition to the technique and interpretation advice, it really helped me realize what a good teacher should be able to impart. I left my teacher after four months because I didn't find "play it better" really helpful. As for the voices, coming from a singing background, where I am just one voice literally, this was both helpful and cool to think about. I pictured this as the opening voice as the mom and the voices in thirds as two siblings. Maybe the fourth, lowest voice in bar 15 is the dad joining the picnic. I would love more of these classes at this level.

Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this! I absolutely love that you enjoyed the full hour so much! And I love hearing your thoughts about the characters you have placed in the scene! I always try to give a starting point and my own thoughts, but it’s always best if you (the student) find their own story, scene, and characters to latch onto and imagine. And no… “play it better” is something that anyone could say to anyone! Definitely no advice in that statement. If you don’t feel too “done with” Arabesque (no. 2 in this set), I’ll have a class on that either later this month or next month. I’m also doing a few of the Gillock 24 Lyric Preludes as well… perhaps slightly more advanced than Burgmuller Op. 100, but not much. Definitely not any more advanced than the second half of Op. 100.

Thanks very much and your teaching method is exceptional. Is there a tutorial on Burgmuller’s ‘Adante’ op105 no.4?

Hi Clarence! Thanks for watching and for your comment! To be completely honest, I’ve never taught any of Burgmuller’s Op 105. I’m usually sticking to Op 100 and then moving on to Op 109 when advancement deems it necessary. What drew you to 105 No 4 to choose it to study?

I know I am being repetitive with other commenters, but thank you so much for covering Bürgmuller. All your tips on technique are such a big help! I have just recently found your channel on KZbin. You are amazing and I am so appreciative! I look forward to watching all of your other videos (and reading the interesting comments with your knowledgeable replies). Thank you again! 🙏

Thanks so much! I'm glad you found this helpful! I'm planning on doing more from his Op 100 set... in fact I planned to teach the entire set of 25 pieces! Are you working on any others in Op 100? If you are, I'll make it a priority to get some videos out on those sooner rather than later!

Indulgently fascinating. I hope you don't mind but I was playing along and copying your instructions. But something didn't feel right, and I couldn't get the wrist shake correctly. Silly me, I hadn't tied my shoes.
