You presented a very convincing argument for the Spanish elements in this piece. Despite the castanets, the gongs, the brass fanfares, I still find myself enjoying the side that is uniquely Chopin in this piece

Dear Greg Another fantastic and inspired lecture! I had not taken much notice of this piece before, suddenly I find it very likable and will put it on my list of to do’s, although I don’t have your skills and experience it will take me a while. After your lecture, I see what essence of Spanish music Chopin captured, yet in keeping with his own signature. Chopin the master really comes through in the sequences, developments (which your lectures make so apparent and understandable thank you!) and endearing melodies. Thanks again!

I love Chopin, but to my ears, it does not sound Spanish and neither does the Bolero by Gioacchimo Rossini, an Italian. However, this does not take away that they are beautiful pieces and well constructed. I always appreciate your commentaries and your breaking down of them. Anyone who has been to Spain that Barcelona and Mallorca knows are not "typical Spanish" places. This idea of the "typical" Spanish sound primarily comes from the south and the mid-part of the country where flamenco is more popular. At any rate, it is very nice.

Thank you so much for your enriching comment!!! In fact, I know Barcelona and Mallorca in Spain.... So as you said...not a typical Spain. I would really LOVE to experience more of this beautiful and unique country and culture.

Another good question is, is it in A minor or C major? because it starts of with octaves in G, it has a sort of major start in my opinion
@gregniemczuk Жыл бұрын
A minor - the main theme of the Bolero is in A minor and it ends in A major. So we must consider it as an A minor. 80% of the piece is in this key 🙂🙂🙂

@@gregniemczuk I also just noticed that theres a hidden genius part the piece is in all in A it uses 3 A keys; A minor, A major, and A flat major

@@RhodesyYT yes!! That's where I draw a heart and wrote: this is the real Chopin!!!

Hi greg! Thank you very much for your efforts of making all of these videos :) do you plan on making videos on any other composer? Such as schumann or debussy or etc.?
@gregniemczuk3 жыл бұрын
I'll see. Maybe yes! But first I must finish Chopin. Thank you watching and for your words! Best wishes from Poland
