booger is genuinely the sweetest soul! people like him should be known all over the world, he’s respectful and everything a man should be. i remember him always making conversation with my parents knowing they didn’t know much english yet he still made their day with a simple “hi” “good morning”. bless him and his soul. we need more like boog

"Coach Smokey" Assistant BB coach from Glendale Community College thru the 1990's. Booger played for Arizona Western in Yuma, AZ for 2 months early 90's. I remember the only time we played against Booger. All our players knew about Booger Smith and I didn't know who he was. We had 2 guards defensing him and during our second timeout, both players told me "I can't guard this guy" and all I could reply was "do the best you can". His passing ability and ankle breaking skills was a treat to watch. In the 20 years as a BB assistant, I've yet to see a point guard like that (except maybe Kevin Johnson of the Phoenix Suns). Thanks for the memory.

@@80sbaby98 I’m from Brooklyn too East NY, I’m an 80’s baby too. I know exactly what conditions he grew up in and I remember Booger. God blessed him with a gift and he wasted. I feel his pain because I know what it’s like to have talent and not live up to your potential. But we cannot lie to the children and say he should not be mad that he didn’t live up to his potential. They need to see his story and realize that they have a short window in life to live up to their potential. Telling kids that a person who failed in life is a legend is lying to them. Being a street legend don’t live and inheritance for a mans children. Had he did what he had to do he would be an NBA HOFer and his grand children would be millionaires. So yes he should be mad. He was lied too and I feel his pain. But he should be mad about that.

He probably should've never made Soul In The Hole. It gave Boog a false sense of success at a young age. The thing I would say to him is accept that your life was a success story in that you inspired millions of people. It also is tragic in that you didn't live up to your potential. But look at someone like Jason Williams who played for Duke and had a tragic motorcycle accident that ended his NBA career. If it was drug dealing anything could've happened. Boog is alive and well and still hella popular an icon. Don't just dissappear and find something to make all this shit make sense today

Respect to him for letting that shit out. That shit is mentally draining. I felt when he said “it hurts not being able to provide for my family”. I teared up cause I’ve been there. One of the lowest points of my life. Real pain. Salute Booger. I took a few moves from your game while playing AAU for Gauchos back in the day. Glad you kept it real with him Flip. That's why I fw you. People hate the truth, but need to hear it sometimes. You do it in a respectful manner too. Hopefully he can maybe open a training center or something. We need them all over the country anyways. Chin up Mr. Boog! You got this bro!

This was a great episode one of the best. This was a sad episode I remember hearing about Booger from back in the day. Everyone and I mean everyone was talking how great a basketball player he was. It was sad that he couldn't leave the streets alone because he would have been one of the best ballers period the dudes he was around made the league and played overseas. He easily could have done either or and been great. Praying for Boog that he get better and he will get in contact with his daughter.

Mad love from Germany! We grew up with soul in the hole. Every baller out here knew booger. He was by far the best streetballer withhout the and1 bullshit. I can totaly understand why he never wanted to play for and1.

The street isnt a way out if he strong people around him he wouldnt be on flipz couch. Flip relax he know were he went wrong learn when to turn it off bro stop drilling him.

I remember being a kid watching soul in the hole on VHS and for years wondering what happened to him, lenny cooke was from my neighborhood and they both have similar stories, theres so much that gets put into perspective if you grew up during that time and you watch this interview now, sad in a lot of ways

Fort Greene stand up for Brooklyn's finest. Booger was that man for real trust and believe that 💯. I watched this man play many summers with the Kenny Kings with the great Charles Jones who played with L.I.U. and his brother Tick who was amazing! Boogs had a handle and court vision that seemed otherworldy. He could navigate through rush hour traffic and no one was taking the rock from him. Amazing story and I wish this good brother God's blessings. Thank you for blessings us with your incredible talent. 🙏🏾
