idyllic vistas on snow-laden lands, laced with majestic, beautiful mountains coupled with a nice, easy train ride in a high quality video. Noticing, as well, the local gentry ambling along clear paths next to the tracks for leisurely strolls in the fresh air with not a house in sight. Can't beat it...... Beautiful country..... Thanks for the video.....

Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit wird auf den roten Tafeln neben der Strecke angezeigt (wie z.B. bei 5:57) und es ist egal ob Sommer oder Winter. Stationseinblendungen sind bei den neueren Videos vorhanden.

Thanks! Yes, it is a monument - a locomotive of the type "52", showing that Selzthal was a very important station once ;)

Danke! Irgendetwas mit der Türsteuerung funktionierte nicht wie es sollte und daher viel mehrmals der Hauptschalter. Bei 2:26 gibt er die Türsteuerung an den ZUB ab. (Telefonat bei 3:29)

Hey Steve! Normally the horn should be blown 3 times before crossing a road if there are no gates. If the road is well visible, some drivers don't use the horn as much because many people feel offended by the noise. Of course then he would be responsible if there is an accident and he didn't blow the horn.

Tolles Vid; was ist denn das für eine technische Störung am Anfang?

That frantic sound at 00:45 or so, is that like a cab alerter to keep the engineer awake that (should "X" amount of time expire) can apply the train brakes as well?
@fuehrerstand10 жыл бұрын
Well, the first sound you hear after the train departs ( ca. 0:28, continuous tone) is an error sound of the train bus system because the door lock system had a fault. Because of that, the main contactor of the locomotive opened shortly after (so the loco is not connected to the overhead wires any more and runs the electronis from its internal battery). On this locomotive, the fans are controlled manually and need to be turned on before you start moving. At ~0:40 the train driver turns the main switch on again and the loco signals him that the fans are not running. The error showed up a few times more so the driver stopped the train at 2:24 and turned off the controls for the door lock system from the loco. At 3:30 he informed the train guard that he was in charge of the door control from there on. The device to keep the engineer awake ("Sifa") sounds after 750 meters if the Sifa pedal has not been triggered since then, and will also apply the brakes the train 150 meters afterwards. Hope I could answer your question!

This was great. I lived in Vienna for about four years and it's nice to see a part of Austria that I haven't seen before. I'm thinking of making a model of some Austrian town in H0 scale, if I can figure out which locomotives and cars to use. Which loco was used to pull this train?

i was born in Selzthal, when it still was the time of the Steam Locomotives. and it was an important Knotenpunkt *whatever that might be in English* (1951) i like these kinds of clips-movies. but as not railroad aficionado maybe a few explanations would be nice. the names of the villages where the train is driving through. what are all the sounds and why? why are all the switches so clean? are they being shovelled free or =defrosted- with electricity? I live now in Russia and here we have gas pipes to the switches and gas is being used.. of course when there is too much snow, shovels also come into action. but a good clip. it is still 25 minutes to Selzthal (at the time of writing...) looking forward what it looks like now...

sorry had to come back once more. From the looks the station as such has not changed much. only at the beginning to the left there was the big remise and the turntable for the steam locos. that seems to have gone now? of course, the steam locos are a thing of the past. Selzthal was a cold place. lots and strong winds through the valley. always dirty from ash and soot.
@fuehrerstand10 жыл бұрын
austrorus Hello! Thank you for your comment, the turntable and the remise is still there, hard to see at about 31:35 on the left. But you're right, Selzthal is not as important as it once was. There will be a new video of this track soon in the summertime where the villages are named.

Being in America and loving trains, I just completely blows my mind and scares the hell out of be to see your trains crossing roads with absolutely no horn. I would think you to have stupid car drivers there that would just pull in front of your trains. Why don't you blow your horn?? I just don't understand this at all.
