I played this on PS5. It does seem cool to be able to play this game on the go, but the experience on PS5 with the crisper graphics and 60fps was absolutely incredible. Hope to see more games from this company; it's one of the best metroidvania's I've played.

I liked the look of this and was going to buy but after poor reviews and it not looking that impressive, I passed but I’ll deff pick up when it’s Bout £10. 1 game I was tempted to buy around same time as this game was, Kena Bridge of Secrets. Looks beautiful and fun. My only doubt was that , it seems the type of opening game with no direction and some people seemed to get bit lost and or confused and then others actually said that the combat is incredibly tough, especially bosses and then the game is max of 10 hours and much less for some. I’m a bit of a picky sod. I’m put off by the Witcher because long cut scenes, some over 1 hour. Huge world, too many endless quests, then the horrible cumbersome inventory/item system. 1000’s of menu, tabs, sub menus, 1000’s of items, potions, weapons, armour and millions of other crap and while the game looks beautiful, fun and kinda chill, I don’t want to constantly stop to go in menus. And then after 200 plus hours, there’s a bunch of dlc and basically, it can take a lifetime. I own the game and will never play and I don’t like games that are too short. 😭

I wasn’t sure about this title, and performance is really important for me in metroidvanias, I really like the graphics though, I guess I can keep it in my wish list until it’s on sale.

Wouldnt it be cool if there was a metroidvania based on the super smash bros world. You pick one character to play as and go through connected arenas from expanded maps that were used in super smash bros. Each area within the world has its own enemy types for example, in the mario area you fight against yoshi, luigi, peach, etc.. in mario themed maps. You progress through the wolrd, fighting other characters within their themed super smash bros arena. This game reminds me of starfox going through his own metroidvania using beat em up combos.

Thanks for the review! I love Metroidvanias and I'm a sucker for games with animals, even creepy anthropomorphic ones. I've been interested in F.I.S.T. since it was announced years back for Steam. I just held out assuming it'd make its way to Switch being an UE4 game and all. I'm glad to hear that the port isn't terrible. You pretty much pointed out every issue I'd expect and some of them sound patch-able. I'll probably wishlist it for now and wait for a decent sale.

I love a metroidvania but - with the exception of Deaths Door and Hollow Knight - a far away restart point in a tough game or unhelpful map is an instant deal breaker for me. Will see how this does in the sales. Great review as always guys!

death's door is very forgiving if you compare it to hollow knight... both are excellent game though, so atmospheric. You should try Death's Door again if you got the time, it is quite short, but the game as one package is very good, considering it's an indie... as for Hollow Knight, it's a whole different story... early experience is often frustrating (I admit I'll ragequit on that game if not for my experience with Megaman series), but the depth and the enemy design is top notch, you'll ended up playing it to the end after you face some of the bosses.

That bit with the cat person was... intro of The Matrix - haha - nice job though. I'll check it out. - You are right, a mini map is very helpful, but in some cases - like a game I've been playing recently, UnderMine, it gets in the way of the action a bit. Nice to have the option to turn it on or off. UnderMine uses the up button on the left joycon to put the a rather translucent map up, and that is still fairly fluid considering you don't need to stop gameplay by pausing.

Been playing this on PS5 and absolutely love it! I disagree about the value. At $30 or so depending on your region, this is a must buy. It's way more value than Metroid Dread at full price, and I loved that game, too!

Absolutely brilliant Review SwitchUp. F.I.S.T is most definitely one of my favourite Games I have Played, I Played it at the time on the PS4 and just loved every minute of it, even the frustrating moments went after I Completed the Game lol, I Fully Recommend checking this Game out guys. It's ashame the Visuals has taken a hit and the Performance aswell on the Switch, a Capped 30fps should have been the way too go also but overall I feel alot of people will have great fun Playing F.I.S.T on the Switch.

It reminds me of the more serious 90 Sonic cartoon I liked as a kid. Animals fighting robotnik in a cyberpunk city. He even had a rabbit friend with a metal arm cause she nearly was transformed in a robot. Sonic and pals liberating animals from robot enslavement. But they have aged this up and made it more mature and atmospheric. I hesitate mentioning it because sonic has such a freak fan base but this was pre internet days when it was just an interesting kids show.

There NYXI joy cons I believe. I made the mistake of buying Nintendo official Pro controllers. There great but there only for handheld so still using the standard controller on my big TV play. The NYXI controllers are for both Handheld and big TV or remote tablet use. Plus you can customise the neon lights to whatever colours you like! I'm picking some up next month after watching a few reviews. They score highly.

Probably the hardest metroidvania game up to date. I have completed this game on Playstation graphics is great but gameplay has flaws. You're right bout the parry system! Unlike other games like Blasphemous when you can parry with a single button here to parry you have to move forward like in Street Fighter and its quite difficult. Bosses here are extremely good you cant beat them with just a single round so you really have to practice cause they're annoying

I got this game on ps5. It is fun and challenging but it is a bit confusing at first. I not sure it is going to work well on Switch. The frame rate needs to be high because of all the moving parts and backgrounds.

Hm - I'm still unsure about the loading times. Switchup here says they're reasonable, while Nintendolife talks about transitions of up to a minute... which I'm not willing to take. Did NL possibly have some earlier build and a day one patch already fixed this?

Playing it on Switch right now. Honestly in most of the cases you load out an entire mini map for maybe ~40 - 50 seconds. Then you can play that area for maybe 40 - 50 minutes. In that way I think both Nintendo Life and Mark are right about it - it’s just some people are more susceptible and sensitive to loading screens I guess.

I've been playing this since last week after finishing Xeodrifter (another solid Metroidvania, albeit short), and issues aside, I've had a good amount of fun with it. My limited edition SteelBook copy (that I didn't realize I'd get when I bought it) has been sitting on my shelf for MONTHS, and it was only last week at the end of another break from college that I decided to sit down and immerse myself in this... I dunno, let's call it "furrypunk" world. Thus far, the three biggest issues I've had are lag, long load times between areas, and the Parry ability. I've also had a couple lines of dialogue playing part of the way through, but since I haven't had this one happen since the first couple days I played, I'm not too worried about it. The Parry is good to have in a game like this, but the way it works just does not mesh with my play style. You're telling me I have to flick the stick THAT I MOVE WITH right as an enemy is about to hit me? They couldn't have just assigned it to a button? Hell, the only times I've managed to pull it off were pure accident. Gotta say, Metroid Dread's Melee Counter works infinitely better for me. I've certainly struggled against most of the bosses, but at first I thought the game broke when I first died to the Duke fight. The loading screen left me with a looping sound effect that got a bit louder as time went on, though it thankfully didn't last long. My game didn't break, by the way. All that said, I'm still enjoying F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch, and am looking to 100%ing it sometime soon. So far, I've got all three weapons, all four support items, almost all the attacks, and I'm about to enter the Underwater Base area to get the Oxygen Mask. I wish they would've patched the frame rate issues and boosted the visuals to be closer to other console versions, but I can't say I regret my purchase.

I played this on steam deck, cool game. It's looks almost the same. The steam deck version looks a little bit better but the cutscenes looks better on steam deck but thry are pre renders. The music is good in this game

I imported the Chinese version of this on PS5, only to find out a few weeks later that it is now getting a Western release. Egh.
