The steamer parts non availability would rule that out for me. The Ridgeback makes way too much sense so my vote is for the Trucker.

That's a really good question Sam. I'm interested to see which route you opt for. I do South Yorkshire to York a couple of times a year to get a 100 mile ride in. We use the NCN mostly which a lot of is trails. I tend to use my 1990's 531ST touring bike with with 32mm schwalbe marathon pluses or my Genesis gravel bike with 35mm tyres. A lot of the hedges are still being flayed so there are thorns and punctures. However the trail into York is good. It's worth cycling along the planets if you've never been? Likewise the trails round Newstead Abbey and north of there are good. So does the Surly LHT have drop handlebars cos they'll be narrower for any trail gates? Also the Surly forks look to have a decent rake on them so they should cushion out some of the bumps. Hope you do more videos on this trip :) ps I'm a fan of drop bars.

Hey Joe, sorry for the delay in reply...I'm so lazy! I've worked out a rough route using the ncn network map, and I'll probably be stopping somewhere near Saxilby on one of the nights. I'm going to put together a follow up video soon. Showing Tue planned route and I'd love your knowledge. If you were free and wanted to guide me a section of the way I'd love that.

If there is a Surly available, it's always the Surly. Best bicycles on the planet.

@@CargoBikeCowboy I'm using it a lot at the moment, it's proving itself worthy both on and off the road.

@@CargoBikeCowboy hahaha, I know you 'cross the pond' folks love em, what's weird though, is when I had drop bars on it, it shimmied really badly, it was bloody awful to be honest! Now I've put a set of old riser bars on it it's fine..very odd. It does remind me a bit of the old 'tracker' bikes of my youth in the way it rides.
