Fällkniven A1 Knife Review and Sheath Options

Quick tip for turning the stock A1 sheath into a very nice, non rattling, secure sheath: simply wrap a ranger band around the locking tab portion of the sheath. It increases the tension on the knife to the point that it doesn’t rattle and can be held upside down without dropping out even when shook. Frankly I’m surprised they don’t ship this way from fallkniven.

I processed a full cow moose with an A1. I only used a Fiskar hand saw to quarter. Awesome knife.

I use mine for hunting as well, its a thick boned knife but so easy to get real sharp and they stay sharp too!

I don't know why so many folks poo-poo the Fallkniven Zytel sheaths but they are the absolute best option for Northern winter environments. Also for ocean environments. And especially for Northern ocean environments lol. 👍

The ugly ugly zytel sheath is supremely practical in cold wet and snowy climates. It is one of the best sheaths out there for colder climates. I find kydex always leads to scratched up blades if any dust gets inside and are much harder to clean too.

I don’t think it’s ugly at all(that army sheath is hideous though). I like the slim profile of the zytel, but the rattle is infuriating! That is the reason I’d get a kydex.

Fällkniven A1 is just the best survival knife out there and there is not anything that even can compare to it.

Make sure you get the taco style kydex sheath. The pancake style works but takes up more belt space. Also in it's favor the kydex sheath allows you to carry the knife higher on the waist which makes it concealeable with a cover garment.

I went to a leather specialist and spoke about my wishes: a leather sheath to carry the knife horizontally on the back, with straps to put the sheath around my belt and an integrated flint. The knife can not fall out due to an extra strap with a button. I think it is the perfect solution for the Fällkniven A1 - not cheap but very comfortable.

I reckon Fallkniven would do a lot better if they offered a sheath option on sales. Or, just imagine that they shipped knives to their various distributors with a sheath option suitable to the local climate…. Sales would go through the roof. I live in South Africa. I’ve never been in snow here.

The Randall Made Knives are better to me but the price and the long wait to get one will make a personal choice a Falkinivin and feel happy about the purchase ⚔️

Wow, I have listened to many of your Bible teachings! I was debating on to buy or not to buy the A1? I'm a Christian just like you and I have been wondering is it wrong to collect knives? I really like knives and I collect them but I don't know if it's right or wrong in God's eyes? I hope it isn't idolatry! You should do a teaching on that! God bless you!

I'm amazed at those who like that ugly zytel sheath!!! I sell these knives on ebay and I always add a kydex sheath with the tec-loc mount. Always get the cry babies weeping over why I don't like that zytel sheath, and will I sell it to them without the kydex sheath. UGH!!!!!! Even your green nylon sheath is an interesting and better sheath solution.
