I bought mine several years ago. Nice knife. Just for fun at that time I bought a knock off from china. Almost a perfect copy including the sheath and box. If you buy one make sure you get it from an authorized dealer.

Complete Bullshit! The original F1 models were built by Linder with ATS 34 for the Swedish army as pilot knives. The good reputation and the "hype" surrounding the F1 arose during this time. The F1 with the VG10, which is prone to breakouts, is no longer the knife it was about back then. So this is not the pilots knife!!

F1 is suitable for cutting out game glands, cutting fruit, seat belts or strings. It is not suitable for survival. It has a blade that is too short for batoning and a plastic handle that covers the blade. Hitting the handle with a stick may cause it to crack (lining). A survival knife must be at least 12 cm. Then it allows you to attack and defend yourself against the attacker. F1 is not a good knife. He's not bad either. My rating 3.5 out of 5.

The fighterjet pilot doesn't care if the handle cracks when batoning. But this handle saves his hand and fingers when he uses it in cold temperatures. Or cut an electrical wire on accident. Its highly unlikely that he has to use it as a weapon. But if necessary, the blade is plenty to defend yourself.

As a swede i need to interject here. In the swedish armed forces (ground troops) the common field knife is the humble Mora. With that small and thin blade you get to learn how to chop down trees, make fires in harsh conditions and any other "survival" task. My point here is that you have to adapt to your tool and use it with maximal effectiveness WITHIN its limitations. The F1 is perfecty well suited for survival. If you think you NEED to break open steel barrels and bank vaults with A KNIFE you are delusional dreamer.

Did you know that hardly any soldiers fight with knives nowadays? Also, have you heard about the man in Alaska who defended himself from a grizzly bear with F1?

Ofcouse. The knife is a tool to survive in the woods or open an MRE haha. Yes, I know that story of the guy in Alaska. Sick story.
