Shi Yuqi had great smashes. He mixed this cross court smashes very well, forcing Momota to position in center while defending. Hence, opening up the court. This game play of consistently smashing is very tough to maintain in every tournament though.

Magnificent comeback by Shi Yuqi who after losing the first game 15-21, promptly hit the reset button and blazed to a stunning 21-5 and 21-11 win in the next two games. Nobody expected Japan to lose two singles, especially Kento Momota's loss by the biggest margins in two games in his finals. No doubt raucous home support was also a factor in China's victory. The 0-3 loss by Japan looks ominous ahead of 2020 Tokyo Olympics and with the 2021 Sudirman Cup to be held again in China in Suzhou.

I expected more of a competition in the men's doubles, world champs vs asia champs. Women's singles could've gone either way. I predicted Kento to cruise the men's singles match-up like in the world champs, and it looked like we were heading that way! Japan could've been up 2-1 and I'd have tipped them to take the women's doubles and then the tie. Unlikely to have made it to the mixed doubles either way, in which case though an easy win for China there

Wow. Shi Yuqi, a great player with an ordinary look (Don't get me wrong here), but who would have thought is capable of the suddenly explosive transformation during the start of game 2. This is not everyday ordinary determination. In game 2, Shi is able to place almost every single shots to wherever he wanted on the court. Something just triggered him after game 1. I would imagine a mix of anguish, determination and basic instinct overcame him and put him in the ZONE. So good it's scary. This carries onto 3rd game, and at moments it almost seemed he is enjoying so much that he let himself slipped a little. Missing a few here and there. Like some guys said here, "super saiyan". I'm really glad Shi Yuqi won. So happy for him and his supporters. And what a beauty and elegant shot this is 1:14:57. And it comes with a tinge of confidence. Speechless. This is how great badminton can be. What an emotional moment 1:15:49. Also for the opponent .. 1:16:01. I really feel some sadness for Momota. Hope he comes back stronger.

how good ever momota's basic game is, he can't rely on it too much, slowly but surely players are picking up on it, SYQ here and at world tour finals showed the blue print to beat momota. Momota did play offensive in thomas cup last year, but stopped since.

Japanese crumbled under pressure... China completely rose to the occasion and got fired up by the immense support of the home crowd.. Pretty sad final :'( Was expecting all 5 matches to be played. This will serve as a great wake-up call for Japan. Tokyo will be a very different environement though, being at home with the crowd support, but still they cannot underestimate China after this.

In this match I saw the strength of TEAM CHINA, analyzes opponents and gets a victory. Today Momota’s shots and moves seemed to be within the expectations of China bench, just same as Tour Final. One thing I wish badminton would change is the tradition of not allowing the winners (and losers) to speak on the podium .... in tennis we get to know people like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal better because we get to see them give speeches when they win the tournaments, they become more iconic and human when we get to see them show their emotional side during the victory speeches ... badminton should have that too ...

Very weird game. Kento definitely is under too much pressure but all credits to Shi and his coach. He seems to gamble that Kento will be playing rather safe, i.e. almost all return of service is a high lift and almost all return of net is also a high lift. How many times did he anticipate those shots and use smash or fast drop to create direct winners and put so much pressure on Kento's defense.

The trick is simple: If Momota read your game, you lose; If Momota cant read your game, he probably wins; If Momota read the opposite of your true intension, you win; Momota is so good at defense because he read attack so well. Why Momota acts like a fool when Shi yuqi attack in this game? You never see Momota defends so helplessly in any game he fight before; Because Shi yuqi give the opposite signal (gesture, racket direction, move trend) of his true intension. All factor indicates Shi would attach the cross-court then the straight smash comes and vice versal. Believe me, the Chinese team should have learned Momota so well and designed this game plan to defeat him. This win is not good luck or homeland support, this is all designed trap for Momota. Momota wins because he trusts his game-reading ability which is truly a great advantage against all attacking players. And Momota loses this game because the Chinese team read him. A game-reading master loses to a human-reading master.

I agree too, looking at past records your prediction seem reasonable. I never would expect China to win MS. I new my home nation could win MD, XD and WD, I felt that they had very slim chance in both singles discipline. Perseverance and resilience pays of in the end. I have a feeling China will win and obtain back the Sudirman Cup in 2021 as it will still be on home soil in Suzhou, Jiangsu. Sudirman Cup 2023 will be in New Dehli and the 2025 Sudirman Cup will be back on home soils do team China yet again. I think it's currently right to say that team China hasn't lost the Sudirman Cup on home soil. China were so close to making history, if they hadn't lost the MS match to Denmark, they would've been the first team to win the Sudirman Cup in straight clean sweeps without losing a game.

This is a team competition. Each team will have to play against each other in all 5 discipline and the one reaches 3 first wins. Team Denmark's got eliminated by 1-3 team China in Quarter final while Viktor did win the MS.
