Props to the city of St Paul for doing such a great job preserving its' history and the memory of F Scott, the most American of writers. Thanks for the tour Jordan and Amy☺💝🎆

**What great-looking homes and buildings! How fragile, and yet, how fired and successful the life of F. Scott. That he, or anyone, manifests their deepest dreams into full, dimensional circumstance - for however long, and however marred with interruption or imperfection/challenge - is triumph. We are all fragile. Interesting video this morning, Jordan. Much thanks.

I really enjoyed the video on F. Scott Fitzgerald. He lived in my state of Delaware for 2 years. In 1927 his friend and Princeton roommate John Biggs, a Wilmington lawyer, recommended he come to Delaware. They lived at Ellerslie (no longer standing) along the Delaware River. It was said they had extravagant roaring 20s parties. Their friends from New York would arrive by train at the Wilmington train station. Their most famous visitor was Ernest Hemingway who stayed overnight after watching a Princeton-Yale football game with the Fitzgeralds.

Those old homes were amazing, the doors, tiles, you could feel the antiquity and texture of the it. I read Scott never drank when he wrote, that he was unhappy with title of the Great Gatsby and wanted it changed and it didn't sell very well when first published. Hemingway didn't like Zelda, felt it kept him away from writing. Great vlog. You could feel the passion and love for the subject.

Wow Jordan, awesome vlog! The houses are amazing, sounds silly but it almost seems like his birth place and other homes were so solid and stately that some greatness had to come from that foundation. Thank you for yet another great vlog, I learned so much!

F. Scott took a room at The Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC that overlooked the entrance as did his room in his parents home. He liked that room because he could watch people coming and going. He would visit Zelda in the nearby Highlands Hospital where she sadly died in a fire.

Jordan, I’m once again catching up on your Vlogs after falling behind, but after I viewed this one, I knew I needed to comment, even if you don’t see it for a while. F. Scott Fitzgerald is why I majored in English and received my degree in it . I read The Great Gatsby in high school and I was hooked. I then read his other novels and was just in awe of his writing style and use of the English language. I thank you and Amy for this fabulous Vlog and bringing more life to my influential author.

I live fairly close to Francis Scott Key's grave and about half an hour down I270 in Rockville Maryland is where Francis Scott Key and Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald are buried next to the old St Mary's church. Scottie, Frances Scott Fitzgerald Smith, is buried at her parents feet. He was originally buried in a nearby Protestant cemetery because he was considered to be a non-practicing Catholic by the Pastor at the time. 27 years after his death, he and Zelda were move to the Fitzgerald family plot at the church and a proper headstone was placed there with the inscription "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." Scottie joined the 11 years later. His father Edward was from Rockville and there are a lot of Fitzgerald graves there. The last time I was there was the weekend the last Great Gatsby movie opened though I was there for a friends father's funeral.

Scott's parents, Edward and Mollie are also buried there. Edward was born on his family farm in Rockville and married Mollie in DC. He moved to DC from St Paul where they died and Scottie was living in DC when her father died.

I remember they made me read the Great Gatsby in high school, and I was furious they made us do it because I thought it was the stupidest book ever. I am a big fan of the '20s era, and I guess I can appreciate F. Scott Fitzgerald documenting those times for us, but to me, he and Zelda were the epitome of moral bankruptcy in that there were never two people more self absorbed and bent on self destruction than they were. Had it not been for his writing, this would be an example of two totally wasted lives. He died of alcoholism, she was committed to a mental asylum and died in a fire there. When I had to read the Great Gatsby and write a report on it, I remember saying it was a stupid book about even stupider characters and the only one I could relate to at all was Nick, and that I resented having been made to waste my time reading it. Jordan will be totally outraged by my opinion, I'm sure. That aside, I really enjoyed this vlog and Jordan's knowledge of the subject. He always has interesting things to say about the people he is vlogging about. Good job!

The Commodore has an Art Deco bar which has been preserved from it's heyday. Naturally, F. Scott Fitzgerald was well known to frequent the bar. You had to be a member of the Club to enter the bar at one point, but perhaps it is not as difficult to gain entry these days. The Commodore also had a Speakeasy during Prohibition. One might guess that the same bar was the Speakeasy? Dillinger also lived in St. Paul, not far away from the Commodore at one point, not surprisingly. St. Paul officials had a deal with the gangsters that they would be left alone if they did not commit any crimes within the city of St. Paul. So naturally there is a rich history of gang activity in St. Paul.
