I'm a super skinny guy as well, 30'' waist, and I can just barely get the waist strap tight enough. It's definitely a design flaw, it should be universal. There are plenty of people smaller than me out there who would use this. Overall though, great bag, thanks for the review!

for sure! thanks for the comment!! It's such an important part of every hiking bag too. Without being able to tighten that waist belt down you're stuck carrying all that weight on your shoulders rather than your hips.

I have this bag its pretty nice . The only thing is they should of included some type of velcro liner for the main compartment to keeps things from falling down into the icu unit theres that big gap dosnt make sense why they left it that way.

How well does the bag compress? I'm looking to get the medium shallow and i'm curious if the bag is stiff on the sides or if it will technically go completely flat without an icu in it? I'd like to compress the bag down for small trips where I don't need much so it's slimmer and haven't found a good review that shows that.

Excellent review. If I carried a lot of gear this would be perfect. Very interesting bag. But, I'm a minimalist and don't even carry a laptop.

The laptop compartment can also be used as a hydration bladder compartment its has a hanger and routing hole for the tube.

This is an awesome review! I'm really thinking of getting this bag, but I already have an ICU. Can you tell me, how flexible is the width of the bag? My camera cube is 32 cm in a horizontal position, and I know the F-stop ICUs are 29,2 cm, but I just don't want to spend money on something I already have :) It would be great if this bag could take my old camera cube. Thanks in advance!
