Holy moly! The new boost mechanic is a ton faster ! On the OG game I could do only get a 2’01 on Mute City, after hours of trying on practice mode

The OG has 5 laps while this version has 4 laps.

It'll be tricky for them to judge as the question is -- do people just like f-zero, especially the old ones, or do they just like racing in a 99 version Personally I think it's a combination of both, mainly the 99 reason. This game is severely tuned down in speed and difficulty compared to the original, yet I think it's also clear that Nintendo definitely didn't expect the "core" gamers to jump on it as heavily as they did

In the original game, your car would slow down when low on energy... I see they removed that game mechanic.

They kept it, but you can still boost -- which has lower power than a normal boost. I think it's a bit ridiculous personally but hey, it's fast :^)

It gets pushed around a lot if you're not actually leading the pack and also doesn't have a lot of durability. The other vehicles are just less risky.

It's not the most durable and if you don't get a good start your most likely not winning. It's good don't get me wrong, but fox players will get a rude awakening when the later tracks are added.

​@@Toreno2kexcept foxes are also guaranteed to start in front (top 20) due to their acceleration meaning there isn't any actual risk. The riskiest vehicle by far is the fire stingray due to its poor acceleration, poor boost regen and poor durability. All this risk is to compensate for the insane advantage it's top speed grants. And to answer the original question, a lot of people are using the fox. The actual weakness of the fox is not durability but low speed on longer tracks. On mute city foxes simply have an advantage, larger tracks not as much. Boost simply allows them faster times than the other vehicles.

For some reason you can spam boost without having energy, though it's not as powerful as a normal boost Its kinda dumb imo lol

Apart from dying at the risk of a sneeze, this isn't ideal for actual races because you can't accelerate to your top speed while out of power

It's not worth it. You need that refill for the good boosts. I think you slow down on no power as well. It's just all around slower afaik.

It is compared to a boost, and so far I've not found a faster strat to accomodate for the ramp But yes it is faster than normal non boost top speed

huh kinda lame how you can just boost infinitely even when you're in the danger zone, kind of removes the strategy of the mechanic for speedrunning

it's likely that way so you can still go for kills to try refilling your power (at the risk of instantly dying yourself) in multiplayer
