this is a pretty interesting ship. as hard to believe as it is, this thing is the fastest ship overall in this game and part of that is due to the way the stats are set up. it feels like it's in a constant slip state so it's pretty hard to control. it won't stay steady so you have to be moving constantly. the ship also has extremely good speed retention around corners despite the super bad grip and it retains speed good enough in the air and when boosting.
it lives up to the tradition of the best F-Zero ships being the hardest to control well in each game (except the original).
here's some information about this game that explains several things in the run:
angled driving: the reason it looks like i'm always driving at an angle is because strafing speed from L and R is added to your normal speed and this makes it overall faster. that means i hold one of these buttons most of the time except in few instances were going straight is tricky. it also helps to set up the spin attack to fend off rivals.
blast turning: the reason i'm mashing the accelerator button a lot is because this is a tech called blast turning and that makes the ships turn much sharper and retain their grip. just like in GPL, the sound they picked for the accelerator can get grating and annoying after a while. unlike the previous games, blast turning isn't as effective alone and you need to hold D-pad Down to help with turning since that makes the ship turn a lot more.
difficulty setting and tracks: this game retains GPL's mechanic where the tracks themselves vary depending on the difficulty chosen. that means the tracks you play in novice and standard in the first 3 cups (Bronze, Silver and Gold) aren't the same as the ones in expert or master. for this reason i do the first 3 cups in 3 difficulties (Standard, Expert and Master) because technically they contain different tracks. the last cup (Platinum) has the same tracks in all difficulties. also, unlike GPL, they give you continues in Platinum cup now like in all other cups.
this run was recorded using a Nintendo Switch with the NSO Game Boy Advance App. the colors look a little weird compared to playing on Gamecube's Game Boy Player but i think this is how they look on an actual GBA.
