I’ve noticed a lot of set ups are crazy in this years game. Lost of gamers are using 7 front wing and 2 rear. Pretty much max front downforce and no rear downforce. Surely f1 cars are not that understeery. Compare it to the 2020 game and I’d say that this games cars are unbalanced.

I love the stability of these setups. The only problem I have with them is the brake pressure, as I almost always run 94-97 bp and so running 75 screws up my trail braking and I lock up more, I just tune that and I'm good! Thanks for the setups even though I'm commenting 4 years after the fact.

Just came back after the winter break for a fresh career, and I had to give props to @Tom97. I started using these setups as a baseline and after tracking qually times, so far so good. (Haas Career Season 1 95% difficulty; Bahrain 1-shot Qually 1:29.869; 6th pos on grid; 1 full second faster than Magnussen.) I may even bump AI difficulty to 100 for the first time ever. *My only change was a drop in the on-throttle diff, but the tire temps for the rears were on the low side after practice, so I may bump that back up a touch for the race. I find doing F1 setups harder to do on my own doing NASCAR setups because finding that nth degree of second, whether hit or miss, will make it frustrated for those new to F1 online racing.

What's with the high diff? That ain't gonna help with your tyre wear/temps at all which is fairly important to manage

It's subjective, I find I drive better and am more consistent with them, you can change them. Like I said I'm no expert, this is purely what I use as people asked :)

@@Tom97 Alright. I seem to have the opposite (might be pad related though). Lower differential seems to have the same amount of traction every time while higher differential makes it more inconsistent. And as a fellow league racer I like to have consistent traction

@@qvrverstappen2192 The high diff off-throttle would help with the turn-in when braking and/or not on the throttle. Especially handy at tracks with tight hairpins, or weird angle like Bahrain or Singapore. 100% would lead to a very snappy car when cornering, forcing you to be really smooth when steering into "off-throttle" corners (otherwise you might suffer from oversteer and ruin the tyres, even though in F1 2018 everybody was oversteering in corners with little to no concern about tyre wear, but I thought this was fixed by removing the ballast option). As for the on-throttle, 75% isn't too bad if you're again smooth enough with the throttle. I would say these diff settings are pretty advanced tho, since you have to be a very smooth driver. If you are a noob like myself, these settings would maybe improve your time per lap, but would also definitely have a negative effect on the tyres in an actual 25%-100% race. So, I would actually not recommend running these if you are relatively new to the game.

@@WillemstadPlug Well not wanna sound too arrogant, but I'm quite advanced with this game, league racer myself (ILR3, ERL F2 or RLH F1 if you wanna check it out ;) but I kinda feel like it's too snappy even though I use weird setups to most people, for instance 5-3 wings at Australia. But as a pad driver, I can't be too smooth really so I just go for what feels stable and fast really

And for a noob like me, obviously, but it seems most people (even the top of the leaderboards), never go for these aggressive diff setups. But again, like Tom said, it is after all a matter of personal preference.

Just remember set ups are really subjective. Even the same aeros wont work across the board. Its what the car and YOU personally can handle. The rest is specific to each track and YOUR personal driving style.

Depends on the track and conditions. You can edit them if you need to. If you're locking front brakes, move them to the rear and viceversa. Higher Diff means more traction but more tyre wear and viceversa.

Hey Tom, I noticed you always use a symmetric setup for the suspension geometry by going as far to the left with the toe as you go to the right with the camber setting. For Mexico, however, you go to the right by three clicks and to the left by two.. is there any reason for this? Also, I love your setups, they work great for me!

I need some help. I’ve been playing with these setups. The car handles well but straight line speed is significantly less than everybody else. I get up to 185-190 mph . In F1 2016 which is the last game I played before this I was easily around 210 mph. My lap times are over 2 secs slower than most people in online races. What am I doing wrong? I’m not an elite racer but I was very competitive in f1 2016. Why is my speed so slow in f1 2019. I’ve tried changing setups but it makes no difference.

Yeah it's not the setups, the AI are coded to have good straightline speed. What I could say is try to lower the front wing aero as much as you can without having too much understeer.

Make sure your throttle hits 100% in the settings. If not, adjust it with the saturation setting. It might be the problem
