I don't expect everyone to understand what's going on here but this really shouldn't have been a TV interview, it's only a TV interview so that Jordan can have this discussion under the guise of a TV interview. Bernie is a hard but honest man who few dare tell the truth, which means he gets isolated and detached. On the other hand Jordan is straight shooter who's looking out for F1 as a whole. This is Jordan trying to help Bernie and F1 as a whole to become better and survive in the long run. Big respect to both men, they're both great in their own way.

eddie Jordan is just a legend, a real fan of the sport. He and Jordan GP are sorely sorely missed from F1. You can tell the affection between the 2 men regardless of the hard hitting questions.

You have to admire Bernie, he sold F1 four times, but he never actually owned it in the first place and it was all legal. He made F1 into what it is today, he could do a deal with a promoter, team or other entities, make them pay a higher price than they wanted to pay and the other entity though they had the better part of the deal.

How do you know? Bernie does what is best for Bernie. He's manage to sell his own company 3 times, making a profit each time, all the while maintaining control of it. Even I have to admit that it is pretty amazing. What is more amazing is that people still watch such a boring and predictable procession. You can't call it racing.

Great man Bernie and so many have come and gone Lotus, Brabham, ligier, Tyrell, Jordan, the list goes on but the greatest and always the same colour Ferrari, too many adverts on the car and the paint has been tampered with, but without them F1? Would lose many spectators. His comment on democracy is so true, always an interesting man.
@jacobmassey38973 жыл бұрын
All the teams you mentioned left the sport because they were being poorly managed in their final few years. Brabham had been divided into shares and no one knew who was doing what. Ligier was run into the ground when Alain Prost virtually forced them to sell to him and then he made poor financial decisions. Tyrrell went bust because Ken refused to change with the times instead choosing to cling to the memories of past glory just like Williams have now done. Jordan was also poorly managed I my opinion during the 2000s and Eddie sold to the wrong people in 2005 who then sold the team again and it just kept changing hands until it became Force India. And Lotus simply ran out of cash because it was being run by people who weren't fully aware of the harsh realities of the financial side of the sport.

Bernie is a money fein but he is right. If teams like Sauber and Force India cannot afford to put forth a competitive outfit then they should pull out. Teams like Jordan were a thing of the past and won't be very common going forward. We will see a lot more exciting racing when teams are allowed to spend. What's the point of having a behemoth like Ferrari or Mercedes racing a team like Lotus who can't even pay their bills for the tyres or hospitality suite. What is the point? These teams should go race in GP2 or lower classes.
@berendh.19528 жыл бұрын
+supercooled Well, that would leave us a empty grid I guess...
@supercooled8 жыл бұрын
As it is now, there is only about 6-8 cars racing for the podium finishes. What's the point? Let the teams field more cars. 3 or 4 cars per team would fill the grid nicely.
@GroundHOG-20108 жыл бұрын
6-8 cars racing for podiums? Let's count them... Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari are the main ones, but Williams is hanging around, Force India have gotten a podium this year but those could be yes/no depending. That said, Haas is new, they are just trying to get points and get better. Renault is just entering and trying to do the same, Mclaren is starting to turn their ship around, and that leaves Sauber (deep financial problems) and Manor (never been competitive). But really, "What's the point?" if they are not racing for podiums. Apart from the fact that most of them are trying to get a solid base with which to get podiums and be competitive and it's unlikely they would be able to do this in GP2 as that series has no car development or other such things (and some of the teams have GP2 feeder teams anyway).

Why do you keep on mentioning those 3 teams. F1 no matter how competitive it is and painful it is to the small teams gets it mojo from that. Nascar is a terrible example of that. I mean if you destroy the nature of F1 by putting a cap on it, or making it affordable, you will have a racing leaque of mario karts and crash bandicoot meaning it would be a joke. Bernie sees that.
