F1 manager 2022 Driver Development and Scouting

Within F1 manager 2022 you can scout other drivers and develop them. Which Driver is your number one? In my save of F1 manager 2022, Fernando alonso is absolutely incredible. Supporting him at Aston Martin I have Mick Schumacher and Jack Doohan. I figured I could develop these drivers more after scouting them.

Fighting for the Drivers Championship with AM and Fernando as driver 1, forcing myself into a realism challenge so Stroll has to stay which is rough but did manage a podium in Japan with him in season 2. Reserve is Bearman, had Hauger in the seat for the last 2 but his growth wasn't great and Bearman is 2 years younger and already as good overall.

Season 2 at Williams and I went for Gasly in the lead car with Zhou in the number 2 car, Pouchere in the reserve slot. Definite uptick in results compared to S1, with Gasly even picking up 3 x P3's! Second half the season Zhou getting some points too. Alternating between the 2 cars for Pouchere dev in P1 as don't want to stunt either drivers dev. Great tip about sponsor events, never knew you could elect a driver. Loving the content!

Pace and Smoothness are the most important part, its fun when you can stay at Aggressive and the tire still maintain. Adaptability only when it rain(which is 3-4 race per season in my save) so do upgrade those as high as you can.

Adaptability is pretty much worst attribute imo. U have to run erong tyres for that. And for that happen u need to stay dry tyres for couple Laps. Which is unlikely

season 3 at red bull car 1= max verstappen 92 rating car 2= sergio perez 89 rating but is going to be replaced with lecerc at the end of the season reserve driver= oscar paistri 79 rating every two races in fp1 paistri gets perez's seat perez does 20 media prefomes

Aston season 2. In season 1 I went for Seb and mick to be the drivers and although mick was ok and only scored 6 points with a best finish of 8th, his teammate Sebastian on the other hand had 2 5th place finishes, a P9 in Baku, scored points in half of all the races and even won the Singapore gp in season 1. Season two as been okay so far with Seb and Daniel being partnered up in the team and Bahrain was good with a 4-5 finish Daniel had a crash I didn’t even know what was in the game (and I’ve played 4 other careers already) so Seb picked up the pieces with a p10 and on our way to Australia

I'm in the second season with Mclaren and replaced Danny Rim with Gasly and he is fasttt! Vesti is very good for reserve driver in my save as he develop really fast and has good all around stats

I’m using Haas and dropped MSC for PIA right away. POU as reserve for MAG FP1 every race for 2 seasons. PIA smoothness is 48 which affects strategy but not that bad. Have Crawford as reserve because I wanted an American with Haas! Would have Bearman if not for that.

Ocon is amazing in my save, after 3 seasons with KMag and Mick at Hass (KMag was brilliant too in my save, finished with 3 wins and 2 other podiums in his 3rd and final season at Haas, and a few wins and podiums in the 2 seasons before), I hired Ocon and made it Mick and Ocon. Mick is having a dreadful 4th season, crashing out everytime, in the 2nd or 3rd best car on the grid in Haas, after 3 average to decent seasons in much worse cars, while Ocon is leading the world championship by 92 points as I am going to the Italian grand prix, and almost singlehandedly carrying Haas in constructors almost to the top, just 8 points behind Redbull. Haas also has 8 wins and 3 other podiums, out of which Ocon has all 8 wins and two 2nd places. And the fact that he is insanely good with the tyres makes him ridiculously OP, yet cheap as heck He is a cheap option too compared to other high rated drivers, so he is definitely a must have, especially if you are starting your career in below average cars. Being a Michael Schumacher fan, I want to make Mick win the world championship, but he has been ridiculously pathetic in his 4th season, but I will stick with him until I can get him to win it just so that i can get the satisfaction of building a driver and a team.

Bottas has 7 wins in my first season with Alfa Romeo and looks a shoe-in for the championship with a couple of races left. And that's with only a couple of early upgrades and then the rest of my development on next year's car. He's just a beast. Zhou was doing some great overtaking (stat at 90), but his mistakes were too costly so I booted him for Piastri in the final quarter of the season. Piastri is hanging with Bottas in outright pace, but he isn't able to sustain it in the race due to a low Smoothness rating. I have high hopes for his development though. Alonso though...this guy causes a safety car every 5 minutes. Real life Alonso deserves better.

I picked Williams as a team. I switched Latifi with Oscar Piastri. So now I have Oscar Piastri and Alex Albon, wtih stil Aitkin as a reserve driver. I am surprised that Piastri is quite regulary faster than Albon.

I did the same but replaced Albon with Pourchaire, only on first season at Monaco on this save but already slight improvements, was P19 and P20 in Bahrain, up to P13 and P15 at Barcelona, with Pourchaire actually outdoing Piastri

I'm at a similar point coming towards the end of S2. I had to get rid of Mick Schumacher. He spun or crashed out of nearly every race. I put Pourchaire in instead and he's been way better. Lando is my main driver. He's outstanding.

Watching this as I'm doing FP2 at Yas Marina and just as you got in to your Ocon part saying how safe he is he crashes out in FP highlighting how saves differ a lot.

Williams team, I have piastri as number 1 and his only real weakness is smoothness but he keeps running wide and locking up Albon as number 2 and he’s been a great driver but often times crash and/or lock up in clutch moments when contending for points Doonhan as reserved and is real weakness is smoothness as well My plan is to go maybe one more year with albon the promote doonhan then get Bearman

WIlliams S2 - Piastri and Pourache 4th in the constructors. Tyres last way too long piastri's poor smoothness has negligible effect. I have Hauger as reserve. Waiting on Oliver Bearman to become available as reserve.

Startet with alfa Romeo with bottas and schumacher. I fired mick during season 2 because he always crashed the car in every race, it wasn't fun 😅 I replaced him with pourchaire and bearman as reserve driver. In season 3 I replaced bottas with Norris. They are now 1st and 2nd in drivers championship 🙂

I'm in S2 with Mercedes, as one of the bigger teams I'm unsure how important the third driver is. I have Hauger who has lots of potential but it'll be years before he is read to step in (if at all), is it worth me having a young driver that I'm building up or is it better just to let on of the younger lads go to the smaller teams to build up his points and then I nab him when he hits a decent rating? On games like football manager you can get the good young players, slowly bleed them in or loan them out and then once they're ready start playing them. Just wondering what the best approach is on F1 manager though... Also be interested to hear what people did with Lewis come S3, not willing to negotiate a new deal atm and I'm going to have to start looking at the likes of Ocon or Norris as a replacement I think. This again sort of makes my young third driver a bit pointless considering Norris and Russel would have years ahead of them.

In my Alfa Romeo save, 4 seasons in… Bottas is amazing. Constant top 5 finishes. Zho has been decent the first two seasons with a few top 5 finishes but mostly between 8-12th place. I fired Zho at the end of season 3 because he was locking up, spinning out, and crashing on a regular basis. It was ridiculous.

Developing smoothness first is a big mistake. You can easily work around a bad smoothness rating of any driver. The first thing you generally want to develop is everything that reduces racing incidents. So Cornering (reduces spins - bonus: better overall speed), Braking (reduces lockups - bonus: better overall speed) and control (reduces all kinds of incidents). So bring these stats all the way to 97. After that go for accuracy (reduces chance of running wide) and then reaction. Also to 97. By this point your driver is pretty much unbeatable. Important: Do not go over 97 on cornering, braking, reaction, accuracy and control. These stats get a bonus of 3 points each for the practice sessions every race. And sadly you cannot go over 100 skill points. Not even with the practice bonus. The way the game is setup, a reserve driver is just a dead spot. You will have far more success giving 2 drivers with reasonable growth potential car 1 and 2, if you want a longer career. If you want a short career you can pick drivers with already good stats - the growth potential does not matter in this case. The reserve spot can go to the cheapest driver you can find. He / she will be just gathering dust and look pretty while polishing your cars. If you want to know which driver has the most growth potential at the start of the game (max is 100 - every season it is lowered by 2): Jak Crawford - 98 Zak O'Sullivan - 96 Oliver Bearman - 94 Théo Pourchaire - 93 Isack Hadjar - 93 Zane Maloney - 91 Roman Stanek - 91 Franco Colapinto - 91 Oscar Piastri - 89 For reference: Fernando Alonso's growth potential in season 1 is 15. I went for Piastri in car 1 and Pourchaire in car 2 for 11 seasons. At the end of season 11 both Piastri and Pourchaire had an overall rating of 95. But you can do this with every driver with around 90 growth potential at the start of the game. And yes, the drivers stats are hard coded at the start.

In France right now in S1 and in Aston Martin, sent away stroll for ocon and he’s so good, after the 3rd race of managing stroll into the points or battling for the points and he spins I had to sack him off lmao. Picked ocon instead of other cause amazing stays cheap contract and a good age. Planning on maybe renewing Vettel Contract bevsuse he’s been consistently pushing the car into a points finish

Had the game a couple of weeks now and went with Aston Martin and it's been painful so far to say the least. Vettel and stroll both only had a 15th place highest finish so far, but definitely want to replace vettel as he just doesn't seem to be good enough. Stroll picking up a couple of development points in the first 6 races but he needs work on his braking. Just scouting some drivers at the minute to replace 3rd driver hulkenberg.

I went with Haas and currently in S3. I got Seb (instead of the out of contract Hamilton) and Mick. Both are qualifying in the 2nd row to low top 10 but race pace is almost a 1-2 outside of driver error and the occasional "Ferrari-ing" of strat.

Hi my first team was mclaren. I decided to go all British drivers after the first season. Ricardo was poor at best. He kept crashing. So I went with George Russell and Lando Norris for car 1 and car 2 and Theo Pourchaire as reserve driver 👍

Season 2 at AlphaTauri, Tsunoda did terrible his first season with me, but still has a fairly good rating so I demoted it to reserve and brought in Seb. By the time Seb is done, Yuki should be up to snuff 👍

If you want fast driver you need high cornering skill, like Piastri have. I develope only first two skills (cornering, braking)

This is the great thing about a manager game as that would be fast but potentially inconsistent. I prefer consistency over raw pace ☺️

@@pitlanes Take the test. Increase one driver by 10-15 development points and save game. Then test with the same driver to see which one is more efficient: Put all the points into pace, or to something else? I'm sure that investing purely in pace is clearly more effective than investing in other abilities, unless you have the best car in the pit. You get a lot more points for a random win than for a sure middle position, that's why it's worth taking the "risk". I don't think the game is penalized for focusing on one ability, maybe it should?

So, I have Haas in the middle of S2. I've got Bottas being incredible. I've Piastri in the other seat, hes incredibly fast but cant save his tires. And I've got Haas into P3 in the standings Alpha Tauri, awkwardly, has Vettel and Albon And I had to fire Mick on 2 seperate occasions because he keeps crashing my car and wouldn't score a point despite being in the 3rd best car

I have Piastri at McLaren and he is currently 84 rated with 97 cornering 99 braking and 98 reactions but 51 smoothness. Honestly the tyre wear is not that bad but Jesus Christ the guy is quick doesnt even have to push his tyres and he is always in front so overtaking and defending are pretty much useless

Nearing the end of my first season, picked Alpine just to spite Otmar! Currently 3rd in Constructors. Alonso has been a beast 4 wins and is 5th in Drivers, with only 1 DNF where he completely wadded the car.. chassis, engine, gearbox, and rear wing...YIKES. My other driver Piastri has been steadily improving, currently 6th in Drivers and improving, I pushed Ococn to reserve driver, I don't know what it is but I really don't connect with him.

Still need to sort the car out, spent too long fixing issues mid season rather than researching for the next year. Third season lucky hopefully.

@@pitlanes For example you sign a young promising driver from F2 as a reserve and develop him as well. Give him a chance in FP1 from time to time. Then potentially if he’s good enough you give him a seat. Everything would be more realistic.

I'm in Aston 2024. got gasly and just got hamilton over the summer break because he was free agent. gasly already got WDC in a bag after brazil. Aston is 9 points infront of Red Bull in WCC. gasly is amazing. had piastry but he started performing poorly, but will get him back again because he is free agent right now and ham is retiring,.

do players stats decrease as they get older? How is Lewis in 2024? I'm at Mercedes and Lewis' ratings just keep going up and I'm considering giving him a new deal but he won't negotiate currently. Is it worth just keeping him til he retires if his stats never decrease?

Two options. Give a young driver a race seat and accept their mistakes, less points but maybe xp Or less mistakes having them as reserve but more points. ☺️
