Tbf alonso is just victimising himself by claiming Spanish drivers are given more penalties, when in reality it is mainly the British drivers getting away with more, while others are treated mostly equally. How such alonso glazers exist I do not know.

It's very important to acknowledge that 1 of the 5 stewards at the 2024 Australia GP was Johnny Herbert who's had personal beef from Alonso since 2015-2016 when Alonso had that crash with a Haas and Herbert publicly stated that Alonso might be washed and should retire and I think it was the day later that on live TV Alonso walked up to Herbert and said that he is a world champion and Herbert is just a reporter :D Edit: posted this before watching the video to the end, good thing you covered it

In 2019 right before the Australian GP Charlie Whiting, the man who had served as the F1 race director for 30 years up to that point, unexpectedly passed away age 66. He was replaced in the immediate aftermath by Michael Masi, after the mess that was his handling of the 2021 season, most notably his decisions during the final decisive race in Abu Dhabi, Masi was removed. He was replaced by a man named Eduardo Freitas, who himself was removed near the end of the 2022 season for mistakes he made in the Japanese GP, namely sending a safety vehicle on track to collect a crashed car with following proper procedures; almost leading to an accident involving the safety vehicle and driver Pierre Gasly. Given this was at the same circuit where in 2015 Jules Bianchi had suffered fatal injuries after crashing into a safety vehicle due to mistakes made at the time by the FIA, it's fair to say the drivers where furious and demanded Freitas's removal (especially after his and the FIA's initial response was to blame Gasly and the drivers overall). The current man in charge is Niels Wittich, who himself has faced numerous controversies on his handling of the sport. There were numerous calls by F1 fans for him to be kicked out in 2023 after several questionable calls, with Max Verstappen publicly accusing him of making the sport look amateurish. How long Wittich will last is unclear, but the point is clear, F1 is in a managerial crisis, the people supposedly in charge at times seem to have no clue what they're doing.

I completely disagree that the outcome of an incident shouldn't be considered. If we have a minor collision, where someone's clearly at fault, but nothing actually happened, why should be penalise it? Just discourages hard racing. This is where warnings should be given. If something does happen (damage, spin or position change), then a penalty should be given depending on what the offense was, how avoidable it was and what the outcome is. The penalty points system should be scrapped. Race bans shouldn't be the result of an accumulation of penalties, they should be a penalty in itself. If someone does sth extreme and unsportsmanlike, give him a race ban. I'd also like to see a return to drive through penalties instead of time penalties. That just sorts it out on track, which is much better viewing for us.
@sawyerclark17 ай бұрын
i don’t understand why we don’t use drive thru penalty’s instead of time penalty’s that would have solved all of the issues we have had with KMAG holding drivers up when he has no right to be there in the first place
@saybrowt2 ай бұрын
To a certain extent considering the outcome of an incident is fine, but only in determining the *severity* of the penalty and not whether you got one at all or not. So like you drive unsafely and you cause minor damage (front wing swap for your oponent) you get 5 seconds, you drive unsafely and you cause damage that is more severe (takes longer to fix) you get 10 seconds and you drive unsafely and you cause a DNF you get 20 seconds. Using the outcome to determine whether there should be a penalty at all is what leads to such inconsistency in the first place. Ultimately the offence is the same, so the base penalty should be the same.

They also took his prison record into account where he had like 8-9 violent incidents and at least 2 counts of manufacturing deadly weapons. We have the idiom "the last straw" for precisely situations like the Williams case. And lastly, he was resentenced not for 25 years, but only 5 after the furor died down. So, yeah.

The diference with the Alonso-Hamilton incidentent in Abu-Dabi is that Fer move even out of the track to try to bait Lewis to overtake so he loses the DRS For the following straight. And what FIA did in Australia should be considered a crime. Their own arguments stated in the penalty briefing does not hold it self with the rule book because the ''erratic driving'' is not defined and its left up to interpretation.

One thing neglected is that stewards are meant to find blame on one party (a driver for example) to be giving out penalties. This isn't said much but it's a fact, if an incident has partial blame from multiple parties a majority of the time it'll be a racing incident, this is to make stewarding easier & try to help consistency (im not saying they're consistent lol) im more giving a reason why some incidents will seem inconsistent when there's factors that would make them consistent with the whole needing there to be 1 driver at total fault etc... great video

He even tried to blame it on a mechanical mishap over the radio… He absolutely should’ve gotten penalized for it but 20 seconds is definitely harsh af. Rest of the video bangs tho

Part of the inconsistency with the FIA is likely due to the fact that they don't have the same stewards each race. Which is very stupid

I swear nobody realises this about abu dhabi and everybody says Alonso brake checked Hamilton. He didn't brake check, he had a brainlag and forgot about the layout change being so used to driving the version of the track with the chicane. You can tell for sure by his car positioning, very far to the right getting ready for a sharp left hander as opposed to the smooth way to the curb he was doing on all other laps and thats not even mentioning the fact that he was defending from Hamilton
@Ryzard6 ай бұрын
Even more recent example - Brazil 2023, near the end of the previous season. He applied the exact same tactic against perez for like 10+ laps, and it was one of, if not the best battles that entire year. He's been praised for doing that for decades at this point, so suddenly penalizing it because a poor (british) driver slid is crazy. Imma be real and call british bias here lmao, incident instead of outcome tends to benefit certain people.
