I will say the older cars really looked like glass cannons, this insanely fast terrifyingly sounding monsters yet the slightest touch made them spin or fly out. The newer cars look bigger and meaner almost like a batmobile, and I personally really like it, the one thing I really miss are the cooler liveries.

I might get hated for that but i actually love the 2022-24 F1 designs, their nose being so thin and low to the ground, the front wing being angled, the sidepods, all of that makes the car look so aggressive, it's my favorite design. Unfortunately they sound like crap.

Motorsport magazine did an article in 2022 about f1 car weights from 22 - 2008 listing every reason why the cars have gotten so much heavier and only 50kg is due to safety. So these cars can actually get a lot lighter and be at the same if not even safer level then what they are at now. Safer if light bc if a bicycle hits you at 10 mph it’s gonna hurt. If a garbage truck hits you at 10 mph bones are snapping due to the increased weight. Same with F1 cars if they’re lighter the crashes will be less dangerous due to weight being like dropping a phone on your foot vs a bumb bell.

The problem with the overtakes is that you look at the pace and already know that someone will be overtaken. It’s just boring when you either have max pulling away knowing there won’t be any battle at the front of the grid or max being second knowing that it’s only a matter of time that he overtakes on the straight. You can’t put up any resistance against the drs and the the faster driver will pull away really fast.

Some fun facts about car weight I know of so far: Apparently the 2000s F1 cars ran ballasts up to 100 kg, meaning potentially 500 kg monsters going breakneck cornering speeds 80s turbo era, in qualifying, witnessed ridiculous power to weight ratio, 540 kg and up to 1300+ hp, meaning 2500 hp per ton or 2.5 hp per kg In 1958, there was a car called Lotus 12, made only 175 hp, but weighed just 320 kg, that's 2.5 cars that could fill the weight of modern F1 car Modern F1 cars weigh as much as Group C racecars back then (you know, Le Mans ones), both weighing 800 kg (minimum, at least)
