I wonder how much they actually use these buttons while racing.... Must be complicated as hell to be driving 250-300 km/h and having to brake, shift, press some other buttons, trying not to hit J. Button, taking a corner and repeat ....

I think they use them indeed. try looking up video of nick rosberg showing how gearbox works. agreed on how hard it must be to keep focusing on a race and also changing all those things.

Gt3 cars have twice the buttons a set on the steering wheel and a set on the near the Shifter...or well where it used to be...

They need this highly developed specs in order to get the best performance you can get. You can not compare it to something modest like the nascar vehicles.
