I ran against a lot of the big three (Fast Guys, Rich Guys, and Idiots - go read the book, its great) and there was always the last two who could afford an engine with a million horsepower that would blow past you on a straight like you were parked. But the first corner, they'd either fly straight off like a 737, or drop to 30 mph trying to get around. The real racers could go around the corners fast. Nothing new at all in Pitt's story here, clearly stating the obvious. that right there tells you it is going to be a flashy, exciting story with great camera and CGI work that is as dumb as a bag of rocks.

The film "Rush" captured F1 at it's pinnacle I think. The cars, the sound, the danger, the characters. Before it became a science project. Brad Pitt is basically 10 years older than most team principles. F1 is the wrong motorsport for a 60 year old. That's why there are no 60 year old f1 drivers, and never will be. Early 40s is just about as old as it gets, and then we're talking about the most elite drivers in the history of the sport. The physical demands are clearly too high. Also F1 is now so clinically boring that any attempt to make it look exciting makes it unrealistic. The battles are fought by the Team Principles, in the Pit-stops, using telemetry data and radioed instructions to drivers. I preferred it when James Hunt was going balls-out against his rivals, so he could be first to the Bar afterwards.

Here’s the film: Young driver from the wrong side of the tracks (forgive the pun). An old ex-driver that’s back for one last crack at the whip F2 cars disguised as F1 cars Over the top cinematics and aggressive turns of the steering wheel Enough bad driving too make Charlie whiting turn in his grave A token woman in a prominent position in team, in a male-dominated sport The lady will get sexist remarks from team principles made about her “shouldn’t you be in the kitchen instead of running a team?” The young lad will be battling demons from his past, telling him F1 isn’t his world and he needs to get back to the projects Brad Pitt sees the talent and wants to nurture it, but he wants to win one last title It’ll come down to a dramatic battle between Brad Pitt and the young guy, pitts team mate There’ll be pivotal moments in the film - should Pitt take the win and deny the young guy his first title, or should he cross the line ahead of the young pretender and claim his ultimate victory and final championship? Of course, they leave it up to fate…the camera angle pans to the rear of the car and we see great plumes of smoke pouring out of the back We don’t know which drivers car is affected The commentators go wild “oh no, this is disastrous, there’s smoke coming from the APX GP team, I think this is a retirement” We still don’t know which driver it is. The camera pans behind the camera to see the car cross the finish line, the drivers hand held aloft in victory Finally the camera pans around to show the drivers helmet. It was……. The young pretender. He claims the victory, he wins the championship, and Pitt is happy deep down because “the kid deserves it”

If F1 knew there was that line about not caring about safety, there is no way they would have agreed to help film this movie.

I'm keen to see this film. I'm not deluded into thinking it has to be exactly like real life to be a good film, like Topgun, it's a stylised version of F1 racing, the comic book version where everything is turned up to eleven. The thing that's amazed me so far is how these guys have been at races, in the pitlane, on the grid, standing amongst drivers during the national anthems, but FOM has largely hidden that from us fans, you hardly see any sign of them.

Cant wait! So hype! Saying battling in the turns instead of corners alone was a mistake on the wording. But ill let it pass 😉 Gotta be beey careful with how things are done and worded in this community lol. I do give him credit for driving! Its not a real f1 car but it is a modified f2 car. So nice to know hes really doing the driving. 😉.

I watched John Frankenheimer 's Grand Prix in 70 mm Cineerrama when it was released in 1966. I watch that every year before the new race season begins. Definitely am going to see this. BTW....It's only a movie, If James Garner and Yves Montand can pull it off......so can Brad Pitt. Enjoy it for what it is....Aloha

The most recent driver to have raced as an American is Logan Sargeant, who was signed to Williams Grand Prix Engineering for the 2023 season. He drove for one and a half seasons before being replaced for the remainder of the 2024 season. During his time in Formula One Sargeant scored one point. 1978 was the last American to win a race in the Dutch Grand Prix in 1978 so Americans don’t have a great history in F1 but I wish that would change. How ever Ford partnered with Cosworth have a good history together and won a lot. The Brits and Americans made a good team together same with Le Mans as well with a British designed car and Ford power plant and a Brit and American driver team. I hope Ford comes back or perhaps another American company as it makes it more competitive - the more the merrier.
