The problem is not the Corkscrew. F1 drivers can use pretty much the same line as Indycar drivers to avoid bottoming out. The main problem with Laguna Seca is the limited seats for audience. If not enough people can attend your events, you can't generate enough money to maintain the track at Grade 1 (required for a track to be eligible to host a F1 grand prix) or Grade A (required for MotoGP). This is why they lost MotoGP and is what makes it impossible for them to host F1. So, it's not a technical issue, but a finnancial issue

Modern indycar is only faster than F1 with oval aero kit (very low downforce). With road aero kit it is approximately as fast on straights as F2.

That's why I miss The Indycars form de 90's. The cars by that time were much closer to F1. 7s from a Haas, 10s, 11s from a Mercedes. Indycars of today are too slow. Even slower than an F2. From a series that dared to compete with F1 in the past, it is just not enough. I expected more from them.

Actually, the car in the video is not a Haas but a Formula Hybrid 2021 by Race Sim Studio. I think the performance of this car is closer to the Mercedes than a Haas (it didn't spin 😂)

I guess they're just excepting the times. Motorsports is too expensive now. There was a time when endurance prototypes was also close to F1 but that succumbed to the cost. F1 only survives because of the politics in the background by powerful businessmen, sometimes corrupt.

I don't mind it. Indy doesn't have to be as fast as F1. It's a different series that runs multiple kinds of tracks for considerably less money. 2021 is the first year since 2018 that Hamilton has had a title rival. In IndyCar, I'd say at least 6 drivers have a real shot at this year's title. When was the last time F1 could say that?

@@Mitsos1311 Indycar cars from the 90s were much faster, and had a much better layout. It was a series that had the audacity to compete with F1. Mansell, Andretti and Unser (father and son), Fittipaldi, Jaques Villeneuve, Montoya, Alexander Zanardi, and many others were big names who took the category to a world level. There were races not only in North America but also in Japan, Europe and even Brazil. But then came the stupid breakup in 1996 by Tony George who owns Indianapolis (with the help of Bernie Ecclestone), and then everything started to fall apart. Two separate categories were created, the CART (formerly Indycar) and the IRL that ran only on ovals ..... and also on the Indy 500. CART survived a few more years, but with the departures of the main teams, who preferred the IRL due to the marketing of winning the Indy 500, it soon fell into decay. But the IRL did not grow as expected. After all, it only ran on ovals with unknown or retired drivers. The two series only came together again in 2008, but the damage was done. To this day it never regained its popularity again. Now that Roger Penske has purchased not only the Indianapolis Speedway, but the entire series as well, there is a hope of returning to what it was. But now it is much more difficult ..... F1 has moved forward for years. Indycars are even slower than Super Formulas and F2. There is a lot of work to do.

@@eholanda01 agreed. 90s were the hay day of the spot. Guerrero in 92 with a track record of 232 mph qualifying crashes on the pace lap was hilarious. I believe luyendyke still holds the qualifying record of 234 mph. Sad that speeds still can't match those numbers 30 years later.

Helio holds the 'Official' Laguna lap record in the 2000 Penske Honda with a time of 1:07 An the cars back then were probably closer to a 1000HP before the pop-off valve regs came in.

The difference betwéen those 2 cars is in the price When you spend millions dollars in aerodynamics and more in both frame and motors F1 is compulsary faster and Schumacher and Hamilton in the good car can win years and years Not the same in Indy cars And Indy cars are very beautiful And they are american God bless America
