Late response, but if you get an F1TV subscription you get access to the archive, there’s tons of historical stuff in there. There’s full season recaps for 1970 through 79, and then every race from 1980 to today. I haven’t been able to find much from pre-1970, though. And not all the races from the 1970s are in there, I presume because they either weren’t broadcast or F1 didn’t have the rights to them at the time.

honestly, i consider more of a hero truckers that die on the road hauling cargo to make the economy work. these were just athletes, they did what they loved, and were paid more than enough for it, not like truckers. But, sadly, nowadays the word "hero" has completely lost its meaning, since it's associated with millionaires who play a game instead of firefighters, and the real heroes are demonized, like all the doctors and nurses that have risked their life with the pandemic to help people, and got repaid by being associated with an idiotic world conspiracy

It's not always easy because sometimes those that were recorded if they were in the first place could've been wiped out completely by TV executives who wanted to cut costs of buying in new film tape so they'd tape/film over that. It's a shame but I think if anything the lack of film gives the whole thing much more of mystique to it and whether rightly or wrongly, romanticises them. But I fully agree that it would be nice to see some more footage if it were at all possible.
