DC raced F1 in an amazing era. I got back into F1 in the mid-90’s and watching this video provided lots of flashbacks. Remembering the likes of DC, Mika, JPM, Villeneuva, Eddie, Fisi, Rubens, Ralph, of course MSC, and so many others. Being 1/4 Scot myself, DC was always a favorite . . . and being he was a brilliant driver with a commensurate personality was all the better!

I’d have to find that part of the family’s old clan reunion invites to get more specific on their heritage. ‘1/4 Scot’ seemed easier than listing credentials unrelated to the point made. Are you confused why people generally support things with which they have an affiliation? For example, their hometown sports teams or their own country’s athletes at the Olympics. Or just a bitter POS trolling about a completely inconsequential part of the discussion?

One of the front runners when I started watching F1, who seemed a bit aloof at the time. But after his peak and during his time at Red Bull, and after over a decade as a pundit and commentator, it is clear that was just the effect of the pressure of being the "Great British Hope" that many have suffered. DC is a classy man and competitor, more than I gave him credit for in my youth, and there were some great memories here, and I hope, as Rosanna alluded to at the beginning, younger fans are pleasantly surprised by his skill and determination. He was too much of a gentleman and sacrificed any chance he had at McLaren in 98/99 by supporting Mika. Also his decision to move to McLaren for '96 cost him a certain shot at the title for '96 and '97 with Williams (had he stayed). He definitely had the speed but I also can't think of many other drivers who had worse luck as far as mechanical failures / reliability etc go than DC... - 7 DNF's in 1999 for example, 6 of which were mechanical!
