The 18 videos of the construction of this truck is is some of the best I've ever seen on KZbin. And this is right up there too, great work.

I really like the capless filler idea and the whole build in general. I’m excited every time you post a new video.

I really hope you made thats removable. Because you will be taking that one out soon enough. I have a 2015 Ford Escape with 67,000 miles on it, and if you fill the tank over three quarters, my check engine light comes on. But once the fuel level dropped below three quarters, the light would turn off. I took it to the Ford dealer and they couldn't figure it out. But before I took it to the dealer I thought that I had gotten bad fuel, so I stop going to that gas station. But then when I started getting it at other gas stations and I figured out with a little help from my brother-in-law. That all of the area's fuel came from the same place. That is when I started looking at the capless system itself. First there is a seal around the fuel filler door which can go bad, so I changed that. Was okay for a few fill ups, but then the check engine light kept coming on again, when I would fill it past three quarters. I finally replace the whole neck and that has seam to done the trick for now. So if you have not welded it in preeminently don't, make it so you can change it out if you need to. Or you could do what I'm doing with my project, running my fuel filler from behind the license plate. I hope this gets to before you weld it in. Like your stuff. Keep up the hard work. Bart

Hey Bart, thanks for the tip! Sucks you have to deal with that nonsense. Luckily our ‘14 Fusion doesn’t suffer from that. But if a check engine light comes on in that I’ll know where to look first! As for the truck, with my aftermarket gauges I can just turn off whichever code or check engine light I want to, cool little feature. But yeah, the less codes the better I suppose. Thanks for tuning in and dropping a line!

Hey Bart were you get code P0442? My 09 F150 fuel filler is capless as well. These videos are great, wish I could retrofit my capless to a traditional fuel filler. I have been using the plastic funnel that comes with the truck the forums mentioned to keep it clean. “funnel bang”

So, now that most of us are on lockdown because of CV19, think I’ll go back and binge watch this series from the beginning. Better than binging on Netflix 😁 looking forward to the next episode Matt. Stay safe, stay well.

I know all too well what it’s like to have “mistakes” public. Haha. Not that this was a mistake, there’s so many ways to do a job sometimes we overthink it and completely miss the easiest and most obvious solution. I feel ya brother! 🤷🏼♂️ Keep up the great work!

Hiding the filler neck is a great idea ..it never dawn on me either to use a newer style filler neck , great ideas come from all sorts of places . I like the idea of leaving a dent here and there , tells everyone I’m not a trailer queen..I’m a daily driver .

Doing a mod on my 69 El Camino. Thanks for some good ideas. The 69 Elco, had a bad design of gas spilling out during a full tank , making a right turn. Sometimes you need to be creative...and think outside the box. Would love to have you as a neighbor. Good job...

I would have made a flange around that filler tube to bolt in. could have covered the open area in the bed behind the tail light at the same time.

Have you thought about lining the inside of the bed sides with aluminum diamond plate and have wood plank bed floor?

I hope he doesn't. That always looks to me like a race car or some other sort of performance racer. That and smooth plate. It wouldn't look good on this truck. It's too contemporary. Of course, that's MY opinion. I have a '62 F100, too. I have only slightly considered looking into putting an inner skin like a modern truck has to help protect the outer skin. Maybe, that's it.....a more modern inner skin. Maybe, a late 1960's or 1970's could be retrofitted.

For sure, that'd be baller to clear the "F O R D" on the tailgate in the raw steel...but it'd have to be against the right color I'd think too. For whatever reason I too am a fan of Klutch Tools. I'm not a huge brand loyalist for tools, but I do like the Klutch things I've picked up over the years.

What size wire on the welder when you are doing the step welds? I've been switching to .023 (I think it was) for any sheet metal work. Doors are always so hard to do alone! Another good update and the capless option was a good change. I still can't believe you bought a gas filler nozzle to test all your placement of the filler neck.... that's serious. Keep it up, Clay

Just a safety note. Do not stick your finger in the filler neck. I’m not sure how the transit neck is but I know the ones from the cars are like pushing your finger in a bucket of razor blades. It’s very sharp! I’m not sure why you would do this but just wanted to make sure you don’t slice your fingers up! Ford issued a safety bulletin on this. Let’s be safe out there!😂
@rivercity39084 жыл бұрын
Okay, so I fully admit, I read this comment then went out to the garage to see how sharp it was in there. You basically just told me “don’t push that red button” haha, it’s gonna get pushed out of curiosity. Happy to report that this must have been one of the recalled ones as it was as smooth as a baby’s bottom in there. But thank you for the concern brother!

Thinking about doing a build like this but I don't want the cutout in the bed. I was wondering if itd be possible to cut out the spring perches in the back and push them down to minimize that C-notch.
@rivercity39084 жыл бұрын
You could, but you still have the frame kick up, also one of the best things about these frame swaps is the control you gain from the Watts Link rear end. Such a planted feel from that unit, but sadly it takes up a lot of space under there. I’d miss that for sure, also (and not a big deal) you’d have to figure out a remote fuel tank and sending unit. It could be done, but at that point it would just make more sense to just do a CV front end swap if bed space is what you are going for over handling.
