@pgmgallardo5045 I may have some pics somewhere. I'd have to dig through one of my old phones. It's been 4 years and it's still holding up. Only thing is I'm just not a fan of how far it hangs down. Thinking about changing it to a tank in the bed and placing an old cut out steel Delta toolbox over it.

FYI : A guy might look into a 64/66 Mustang tank, guys are using them in the same way and same place in 48/ 52 F1 Fords without cutting on the frame . The earlier tanks must be narrower because the F1 frame is about 3” narrower than the 53 and up F 100’s. The early tanks might be too narrow to catch the frame on later F100/F150’s but if you’re going to build a ‘picture frame’ to support it anyways than wouldn’t be a problem. Just a thought.

If having the tank hanging down like that is a concern, you might consider using a '67-'68 Mustang tank. Length & width and mounting holes are identical, but they're shallower. You'd lose some fuel capacity, but it'd allow the tank to be raised two or three inches.

Looking awesome. I have a 67 f100 (was my grandpa's) that needs a motor and I am just getting real anxious to start working on it. I have an 85 F150 with the 5.8 4V HO motor and debating on using it as a donor but would rather rebuild the original 352. Time will tell I suppose.
@330_garage3

I would rebuild that 352 into a 390, it will look the same on the outside.. hell you can run the 352 stickers on it, so the purists don't wear you out about it haha. That would be the quickest way to go and make great power

Just did my 66 pick-up found a 52 Chevy tank is best way to go , only had to move front little cross member 2 inches and still clears rear and it has hole for pump and cover if you don't use it,, has side fill much better to fill from side,, only had to cut 3/8 inches off bottom of frame rails,, and it won't hang down only 6 inch deep,, really takes from rear leaf spring integrity to move the rear cross member back that much,, will give you deflect and wheel hop.

Awsome setup im literally doing the same build on my 68 bump. I just ordered the explorer 8.8. With those +15 offset rear wheels how much space do you have to the rear fender? Love the setup, but im looking for a deeper dish look.

On the 61 to 66 there's a space between the inside bed and quarter panel. So it not visible at all from the bed, it worked out pretty cool. Im also using a push through cap instead of the one in the video. But kudos to you on your truck lot of work I just mini tubbed mine for bigger tires. Your video on the rear axel inspired me👍 But I chose to narrow my 8.8 useing mustang axles that will take 4.5 off each side. I had put to much into my crown vic to ditch it! But now it can handle 14" wide with an in. Clearance inside and out! Keep up the great work and video's. Thx and Happy Thanksgiving!

I really like your build, and following along, even though I don't always agree with everything you're doing. First, why are you moving the fuel tank out from behind the front seat and putting it at the rear of the truck? You can easily make a return line to the cab tank for injection by making a tubing insert with a return line connector on it, and fit it between the filler hose and the gas tank, using the filler hose and clamps to do it. Consider this....the tank being at the rear, is now subject to common garden variety rear-enders which could become catastrophic. I drove my 67' F-100 for 600,000k miles and never had a problem with the gas tank behind the seat. If you were in a wreck that could cause the cab tank to rupture...I doubt you would have to worry about it. My opinion is, your tank is a little low for my liking. My truck, until I shorten it, is a long bed with a factory 25 gallon aux fuel tank between the frame, behind the cab. The factory provided a metal skid plate for the tank. I'd think about doing the same on yours. To bring some strength back to the rear of your frame, weld in the inside of the frame, so they won't be seen... "fish plates," with holes inside of the plates for welds outside and inside the plates . You're doing great though, and you have strong problem solving skills. I'm following along with you, keep it up. :)

You can buy a Mustang tank that is baffled and set up for fuel ejection, but they are pricey. When I converted my mustang to fuel ejection I used a stock tank and the drain for the fuel return. Any clue what the measurement is from outside of each wheel spacer? What made you go with spacers and a + offset, as opposed to just a negative offset with a deeper dish? Was it because of availability of the wheels you liked? Really appreciate the videos man, I used a lot of your guidance for my CV swap, and the 4 link is up next. Quality work man.

I added a 2" spacer to each side. (I don't remember the explorer 8.8 width, but just add 4 inches to that) Finding a catalog order wheel with that much neg. offset is difficult. I had to push those wheels out to get them to fit between the wheel wells of the bed. Thats the only reason it has the spacers. Awesome to see you guys using these videos, hope this helps!

The truck is turning out awesome!!! I've been following you for a while now and I also I'm in the process of building my 73 f100. It also has the crown vic suspension and I'm putting in a 6.0 too. My ? Is after I installed the suspension I noticed that i have a bigger wheel gap towards the door I followed ur every step and I don't know how it ended up like this, what do you think happened or what I'm I doing wrong??
@330_garage3
@330_garage3 4 жыл бұрын
Thats how most guys install the CV front end, it bumps that front wheel center line forward 3/4" or something. Mine is the same as yours, the idea is that it actually sits more centered in the wheel-well than the factory suspension did. That wheel-well line isn't really symmetrical with that more open 'swoop' towards the back. Sounds like you're right on track!

I think that steel was 15ga or 16ga wall thickness. Its not holding a ton of weight, so no need to go much thicker than that.

Hey hope all is well. I could not help but noticing your wheels on this gas tank relocation video. I have a 74 long bed and planning to follow your same build one day. For now though, can you please help me with some of your expertise. I'm looking for wheels & would like to go with 17's. But with the 5x5.5 bolt pattern, I'm really limited. Is there a modification or simple part replacement that you can share to convert to a 5x4.5 or a 5x5 bolt pattern. I found some information about having a machine shop redrill the axles & rotors. But then I have the bore hole size to contend with. Are there rotors from another Ford I can use to change/ convert to? Can you also share the wheel & tire specifications when your truck was running 15's. I may just stay with the 15's, if I run into a dead end with going the 17 route. Thank you so much for your time and help with this.

Thats done all the time. No need to drill axles or anything. Some wheel spacer / adapters are all you need to change from 5x5.5 to 5x4.5. Check out these on amazon: amzn.to/2J80Bje My wheels are 19" front and rear. ESR CS11 - Hope this helps and makes things a little easier!

Oh the 15's I had on there were running a 235/75/15. I took the15 inch wheels off a full size dodge van. They use the 5x5.5 and are 6.5" wide, and generally come with that 235/75/15 tire. So it gives you a wider wheel, and they're cheap!
