Perfect...! Spent a couple of months searching for the leak - just like you said. Finally was giving up and telling the wife that she has to take it into the dealership 'cause I can't find it. Thanks Steve. This is the exact problem. Easy cheap fix. You saved me hundreds of dollars from taking it to the dealership...!

I looked underneath and had a similar issue. Figured it was the tee so was going to order it but now knowing there are some o-rings I'll do that instead! Thanks for the descriptive and helpful video.

I just notice exactly the same issue with my Ford F-150 5.0 2013. Every now and then there was a small pool of liquid underneath my truck. Just like you said, I tracked a subtle drip on top of the engine pulley and liquid on that crossbar of the engine compartment. The radiator coolant hose was leaking briefly. Not enough to make my temperature gauge rise or make it overheat. Thank you for your link for the o-rings. Your illustration was easy to follow and I thank you for sharing. You have been an enormous help. Now the only I have to work on in my truck is figuring out why the battery drains every night; I lose .5 volts when the truck is off. And my transmission keeps on slipping; got to drive the damn thing in manual just to get to and from work. Ughhhhhhhhh But I love my F150 5.0 XLT 4X4

Dude....I’ve got a 2013 F150 and have been dealing with the same issues. In the beginning my water pump was seeping. That was replaced under warranty but a year or so later I started running into low coolant issues and couldn’t find the leak to save my life. Watched this video and checked it out...sure enough....same deal on my truck! Thanks for sharing!

Apparently, this is something that has to be replaced every two or three years. I replaced the water pump, the tee, and o-rings two years ago and now after a cold spell in December, it's leaking around the O-rings again! We'll done video and a nice refresher course in changing them out. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. One big help is to remove the throttle body assembly by removing its 4 retaining bolts, then swing it up and away. This gives you complete access to the Tee assembly and allows for easier removal to work on.

Great diagnosis! Thanks. I bought the O rings but also decided to replace the plastic Tee with the aluminum Dorman part# 626-541. Getting the old Tee off was a real b**ch. I removed the throttle body and that helped to get a better grip on the Tee to remove it. I used the Ebay O ring for the upper radiator hose. The Dorman came with its own O-rings. FYI... The small O ring in the Ebay bag is for the connection to the coolant reservoir. I didnt replace that one as it isn't leaking (yet). Reassembly was a bit easier (I lubed the fittings up good with petroleum jelly) but I still had to apply significant pressure to get the fittings to seat properly. Once in place, the clips snap easily into place. Thanks again for a great diagnosis. I had been scratching my head for a while on this one.

Is the o ring in the t bracket, the same o ring in the upper radiator hose? Cant seem to get anyone explaining that? There’s a o ring in the upper hose, where it attaches to the t bracket, and there’s a o ring in the t bracket itself, on the opposite side of where the upper radiator hose attaches, which is where mine leaks

Hey Pete, great video. I have a 2010 Ford F 150 My gauges show good all the time, but I smell Fluid when I get out. I see no leaks under the truck. But when idling during these cool temps, I see vapor/steam, seeping out the middle front of the hood. When it's cold, I check the reservoir and pop the radiator cap. Both are low. The only place I see seepage is the front of the radiator. I sure would appreciate your feedback. Thanks a lot in advance. Vic

I'm bought a new y-connection (motorcraft), the upper hose o-ring (motorcraft), and the new yellow P-OAT coolant (motorcraft). I'm over 100k miles so I figured that I should go ahead and replace the y-connection. Probably would be best to just put a new upper hose in but they're kinda tough to locate atm and they have a long delay to get here.

Quick question if your still around, regarding the O ring kit. It comes with 3 O rings, the small one for inside the Y and a large one for the hose that connects to the Y, so what is the other large O ring for? Is that for the lower radiator hose connection?? I saw a video here on KZbin that showed replacing an O ring in the lower radiator hose. So I assume that is what the 3 O ring kit is for, two for the Y connector and one for the lower hose?? Thanks again for the video. Getting ready to fix my F-150 and just ordered the kit. Juddie - J & J TOA

I'm not sure on the third o ring. If it's another of the same connection type I'd say that's it. My fill tank was already empty from the leak. If yours is full I'd drain some coolant. That holds about a gallon. I didn't that about that.

@@ricardobeltran1833 That's a rabbit hole of a question. I know there is a lot of things that can cause it. Sounds like you've changed the pads. Since they've changed to Kevlar from asbestos I stick to ceramic pads. Your rotors might have issues that you can't visibly see. Probably the easiest cheapest thing to try is new pad clips and make sure all the grease points have grease. Like I said there's more than one thing I know that can cause it. Short of a complete rebuild I don't know a good way to troubleshoot.

If it's low you may not have fluid in the heater core. You may also have an air pocket in the core if it was low and you've filled it up. I could tell when mine would start getting low because at start up I could hear fluid rushing into the core.

Did you drain the coolant prior to taking the hose apart?

Nope but that's probably not a bad idea. I made a bit of a mess.

Do you gotta drain all your coolant to do this? I’m guessing, yes...

No, just whats in the overflow tank and down passed the level of the fitting. Or if you have a helper they can hold their hand over the hose to stop it fr draining..

That's why I just ordered replacement hoses/Y-fitting/water pump/thermostat and all the o-rings. At 114K I don't want to be chasing down leaks.
