Thanks Steve. This is the exact problem. Easy cheap fix. You saved me hundreds of dollars from taking it to the dealership...!

I just notice exactly the same issue with my Ford F-150 5.0 2013. Every now and then there was a small pool of liquid underneath my truck. Just like you said, I tracked a subtle drip on top of the engine pulley and liquid on that crossbar of the engine compartment. The radiator coolant hose was leaking briefly. Not enough to make my temperature gauge rise or make it overheat. Thank you for your link for the o-rings. Your illustration was easy to follow and I thank you for sharing. You have been an enormous help. Now the only I have to work on in my truck is figuring out why the battery drains every night; I lose .5 volts when the truck is off. And my transmission keeps on slipping; got to drive the damn thing in manual just to get to and from work. Ughhhhhhhhh But I love my F150 5.0 XLT 4X4

Great diagnosis! Thanks. I bought the O rings but also decided to replace the plastic Tee with the aluminum Dorman part# 626-541. Getting the old Tee off was a real b**ch. I removed the throttle body and that helped to get a better grip on the Tee to remove it. I used the Ebay O ring for the upper radiator hose. The Dorman came with its own O-rings. FYI... The small O ring in the Ebay bag is for the connection to the coolant reservoir. I didnt replace that one as it isn't leaking (yet). Reassembly was a bit easier (I lubed the fittings up good with petroleum jelly) but I still had to apply significant pressure to get the fittings to seat properly. Once in place, the clips snap easily into place. Thanks again for a great diagnosis. I had been scratching my head for a while on this one.

Quick question if your still around, regarding the O ring kit. It comes with 3 O rings, the small one for inside the Y and a large one for the hose that connects to the Y, so what is the other large O ring for? Is that for the lower radiator hose connection?? I saw a video here on KZbin that showed replacing an O ring in the lower radiator hose. So I assume that is what the 3 O ring kit is for, two for the Y connector and one for the lower hose?? Thanks again for the video. Getting ready to fix my F-150 and just ordered the kit. Juddie - J & J TOA

Depends on how much coolant you wanted on the ground. I didn't drain the system. If I had to guess there was about a quart in that hose. It's hard to catch because the axle and cross member is just below it.
@grimstuff5 жыл бұрын
@@IdleGarage Ok, yeah I just can't quite tell if more fluid from upstream is also going to empty out. I'm not sure on the third o ring. If it's another of the same connection type I'd say that's it. My fill tank was already empty from the leak. If yours is full I'd drain some coolant. That holds about a gallon. I didn't that about that.

@@ricardobeltran1833 That's a rabbit hole of a question. I know there is a lot of things that can cause it. Sounds like you've changed the pads.
