I did my first one of these like 17 years ago. Followed a similar process without the internet to guide me & had great success!

Most want the fronts to match the factory glass on the back. So they get 20%. Not legal here but no one gets a ticket for it. I sell precut kits or order a 24” roll of NR charcoal from tint depot and give er a go. I’m always happy to help. Good luck!

Good job Kevin, definitely been watching videos now since you use tintdepot.com film. Love there film, anyways when I roll film from top to bottom I usually don't cut the front seal by mirror. It's usually straight enough for me to line it up, cut half of the bottom then cut back seal. Keep the videos coming, and let me know whenever you get a different blade and cut your rolls.

Good tip. And thank you! I'll definitely give that other blade a shot soon. Thanks for the support!

@Gary Y it just depends on what film i have or if i wanna use a 36". If you only have a 36" roll, you can unroll it top to bottom and the factory straight edge it next to the mirror. It's just one less cut you have to do. It's like using a 20" roll on cars and not cutting the bottom edge, you just use the factory edge of the tint.

These seals sit about an inch below the panel. How did you have enough film to ensure you installed below the seal?
@onpointprostyles
@onpointprostyles Жыл бұрын
I never tuck those below the seal. A good install and you’ll never have to worry about them peeling up.

As soon as I can, yes. Those are a little different so they can be a little tricky.

Hi Kevin! I like this job, I mean I don't know how to do it perfect yet but I'm still practicing to get it perfect like yours, but I have a question its true that they says that you don't save any money in this industry? Like I said I love this job and I want to do this when I retire. Thank you 😉😎

May I ask. How long does it take to paste the film like a professional when you just got out of the job?
@onpointprostyles
@onpointprostyles Жыл бұрын
It generally takes a couple months of practice to get pretty good. But someone can do pretty well within the first couple weeks. But sharp clean installs take time and practice.

Kevin,do you have a certain technique on shifting? As i see some shift the front windows forward before cutting and some shift it back.Same with the rear doors. What do find works best for you.thanks
@onpointprostyles
@onpointprostyles 3 жыл бұрын
It really doesn't make a difference if you cut the back or front first. I've always cut the front first then shifted forward. Probably just habit. And tough on a couple cars with the mirrors and such. Rear doors I cut the back first then shift back and cut the front usually because I want to make sure that the rear windows with the angled back top cut will still tuck in the back seal when the film is installed and naturally shifts forward. If that makes sense.

Sent you a email. Sorry for the delay. Also what slip solution do you use. I've been using tint tac from flexfilm in my 1.5g tint keg. It is really good especially on hot days here in VA.

One more thing forgot to comment on...your pretty tall so the rest of us ( me 5'8'') need a step to get up there n cut the top edge...back in the day when we used to use chisels n rocks n walked 10 miles in the snow to apply tint in the late 80's...I used a milk crate the whole time in my career look back pretty dangerous...find a good safe step...

Good job...nothings etched in stone on how to do tint...everyone gradually has their own technique...good you pulled your tint top to bottom n not waste film...just remember newbies on this one no film shrinking needed...but if you pull up n down you can only shrink on the factory cut edge...which means bringing your fingers to the sides instead of to the bottom... cause u moved the factory edge sideways...would have been nice to finish the job off bud...but I guess there is plenty of vdo's on f150's... Tinter finished a job...n the guy had his face right up to the glass looking at the tint...to bad we can't just say..."hey bud tints to look thru not to look at"...got a million of them...
