From the looks of it I would say your PCV valve was not in the valve cover, that could cause all that oil, when I did mine that was one of things I noticed, my PCV was not in the valve cover, I dont know how long it was out, but it had been some time from all the oil I had under there LOL

Fantastic video! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I essentially have the same job going on right now. Opened the valve cover and everything is coated in a thick coat of sludge. I am going about cleaning it out and dropping the oil pan, but I am unsure if I should take the rockers and pushrods out. If I do, is there a specific process to re-assembly? I have seen some people suggest rotating the crank to make sure the cylinder that you are reinstalling rockers to have both valves closed, does that matter? I see in another comment that you said the rockers are self-adjusting, does that eliminate the need to verify the valves being closed?

When you remove them make sure that you match each push rod to each rocker parts that you take out and re-assemble them back the same way to each cylinder. That goes for lifters as well. They have wear patterns that should be kept together. Find a space and lay out each rocker to each pushrod to each lifter in a line. Number cylinders 1 thru 6 maybe use some painters tape to help with marking. The lifters are self adjusting, you just have to torque the rocker bolt to the proper ft.lbs. It will still clatter when you restart the engine, but soon quiet down as the lifters pump up. Remember to check each pushrod for straightness. Hope this helps! Thanks!

You can verify that the valves are closed if you like, but I never did. I tightened the rocker bolts slowly as to give the lifters the chance to collapse their pressure slowly before reaching the 17 to 23 ft. lbs.
