Thanks for the video. I have a 19 lariat that the drivers seat heater doesn’t work. Good info and I’ll be testing those pins. I got quoted for $800 to have the dealer fix it.

Thanks so much for this how to! Daughters 2018 had the same issue. Ordered a new element and a new seat cushion per your advice in the comments. Took my time but we had it done in a couple of hours start to finish. The hardest part for me was getting that side cover engaged in all the clips simultaneously. Glad I got a new cushion also as those clips were pretty hard to get undone without breaking them.

You may try your local Ford dealer. FOMOCO Motorcraft parts are the best. I've also ordered Motorcraft parts from Tasca with good luck

What is procedure for seats with heating and cool seats?

Pretty much the same. Some of Ford's seats will have thermal electric devices (TED) under the cushion and backrest along with heater mats and other seats will have TED'S only without mats. What is your model?

Yep. AES Wave test lead kit. Love it and gets used all the time

I own an '18 XLT and the passenger heater is not working. I've replaced transmissions laying in a gravel driveway without a lift, but this scares me. I see it looks like it took you less than an hour with the right tools. How much would I expect to pay a dealer to do it? Are you a dealer-trained technician? I wish I could see how you released the seat cover from the creases. This is an excellent video, BTW.

Thanks 👍 I don't ever get to see billing but can say the cushion is around $125, heater around $80 with somewhere in the 2hr local labor rate. I recommend always doing the foam cushion even if the cover is still in good shape.

@@raincitywrench117 I'm curious on your reasons for recommending replacing the foam cushion. The heating element is about $50 and the cushion is showing around $150 online. $200 all-in isn't terrible to make this repair, but $50 is a lot better. 🙂

@@jhansen17 Pretty much every seat repair I've done the foam is deteriorated on the side from owners sliding out or flattened so that's why I recommend but if yours is still in good shape definitely save the money. 👍

Funny timing to see this posted only two weeks ago…that’s when mine went! Were you able to locate where the element cracked? I’m wondering if there’s any way to prevent it happening again

Yea, it was on the front fold where it dips down into the valley and seems like it's always the same spot. I don't think there is anything that can be done, just one of those deals unfortunately.

Is the back rest element difficult to change?

It's a little more time consuming but pretty much the same process.
