well, im sure it was, considering on his electric guitars he'd play with 0.13s. he had fingers of steel
@claudiajenkinson70463 жыл бұрын
That high action is what he learned on. Built him fingers of steel from an early age. He used very thick strings which gave him a unique tone. He basically took acoustic guitar playing and redefined it into a Strat sound which no one had done. His strumming hand is the key to his playing. Sublime and technical. Backwards sweeps and beautiful effortless strums.......He was so good.

Amen! Mr. Cark was one of a kind. I think he was one of the first 'pickers' that iI ever noticed, thank to Hee Haw. I was born in late 1964. He caught my attention early, a long with Jerry Reed, a few years later. Then I grew up and discovered The Eagles, Boston, and a few others. But, I never forgot about Roy Clark. He, and the others will always be my inspiration for playing, even though I'm a classic rocker at heart. Take It Easy was the first stone that I taught myself to play. I cant handle Roy's songs, even after years of playing.
@bryanmannoia84105 жыл бұрын
weird comparison but it's true that Roy was a monster on guitar. no style he couldn't play.

@bryanmannoia84105 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethreed2090 watched him I did, including seeing him live solo back in the early nineties. though he rarely did both, he certainly could. there are videos on here to back that up. ( ಠ ͜ʖಠ) Reminds me of the oldest (from the 1890's!) joke I know: A not-overly-monogamous but otherwise quite-haughtily-cultured middle-aged playboy returns to Manhattan from a luxuriously self-indulgent solo tour of the French and Italian Rivieras, Capri, and other ultra-balmy Mediterranean pleasure-spots. Meeting him at the dock is a certain particularly-intimately-acquainted young lady-friend, a chorus-girl, ripely-Rubenesque but of decidedly plebeian origin. She greets him gushingly in the vulgar Brooklynese demotic: "Gee! It's bin so long, ain't it? Say, Sugar, youse must'a been blue wit'out me in 'em farrin' places!" The fellow shakes his head tolerantly, and -- ever-willing to mentor the worthy young -- patiently replies, "Tut-tut! 'Blown', my dear; the proper past-tense form is 'blown'."

Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard he had to use piano wire sometimes in place of regular guitar strings because he was so hard on the strings & they would constantly break. His fingers must have been solid calluses.
@timarnott44833 жыл бұрын
Its actually a BIGGER stretch, the strings are larger, but he generally tuned a half step down, so he COULD bend them......the reason: better TONE!!..but heavier strings make it HARDER to bend....jus sayin...i use .009's cuz i got small hands, he and Hendrix used .011's!!!!....HUGE diffrence!!..
@ohhkennny7662 жыл бұрын
@@lesliebeacom4567 SRV, Had to use super glue to keep his fingers apart because the .13's were literally shredding his fingers open even with how thick his calluses were, BB King eventually convinced him to use lower gauge strings after showing him SRV's tone was already embedded in him that he could use any gauge and still sound good, I think he switched to .10's afterward but I'm not sure

I wouldn't even consider trying it in my head. I still wouldn't be as good, even in my fantasies.

Its the timing wth Stevie. 4/4 its perfect. 16ths its perfect. Rakes are perfect. Turnarounds are perfect. If he over steps the timing, he rams all in perfectly. Most musicians could only do all this with a pencil and manuscript. Hes doing it on the fly.
