this is quite simple to find. Levi’s jeans, just search “100% cotton tee pack” and you’ll find white ones, the last three you state will honestly require YOU to research yourself. those aren’t cheap nor items you just buy online without ever trying on. please just find local places go try the items on, feel them and determine for yourself the quality and price point you want to spend.

Right. Where to buy anything of quality in today's world is going to be the known as the mystery of this millennium. I'm afraid we're going to eventually just revert to trying things on, or generally taking our time with each garment before making purchases. It's almost like life literally takes longer because of the diminished standards and values of an always outsourced commercial environment.

That horizontal weave you are talking about is the hallmark of Champion's classic premium sweatshirts. It was Champion that introduced this technique, patented I think back in the 1930s, and it's called Reverse Weave - shrink resistant, durable, and made to last. All things in this line are clearly marked on the label.
@stephenmcnamara83189 ай бұрын
Yup These guys know a LOT about fabric - down to that it is carded yarn, and such. But I am very surprised how little they know of classic Champion reverse weave...17-18oz was the standard (500gsm) - and you find almost no one going over 360 today. But if you own any of the 1990 type ones anymore - you know every supreme detail is like taking an old 1990 Champion and just copying it. Yes - 500gsm was quite substantial and normal - as was the way too heavy doubled hood....but if worn in winter in NYC - that is the only time you are pulling it up over your head and thankful

the undercut to skaters and the attention to detail is funny. skate culture provides so many style notes to fashion for a reason. skaters are tasteful people and pay crazy attention to detail, especially in their craft, media, and fashion (quality included). skating alone needs so much attention to detail.

I bought a vans puffer on clearance because it looked not dorky & was reviewed as warm enough for nyc, which covers about 50% of MT’s seven month winters. Initially I thought it was cropped for fashion but as an elder caregiver & small museum staff (we do our own heavy labor), oh wow i cannot believe the range of motion I have in this coat! I can do anything in it! I’m throwing wheelchairs in my trunk & shoveling snow on stairs, no problem. It is funny, I have that coat & some cool ass footwear, and I’m kinda butch & mid 50s & the skater youths want me to be an old skate punk so bad… at least I was a punk dirtbag in the 90s, but never could stay on a skateboard…
@stephenmcnamara83189 ай бұрын
The reason for the double knit rib should be clear. The rib look on the outside is substantial - and what you have to go with to look big and chunky - but it also has a tendency to spread as it is much more sweater like. to stop that some people put a small amount of lycra yarn into the knit - to have it bounce back, but that is almost always visible - and gives a plastic feel. If you double knit with the much less elastic single jersey on the back side, it will keep its taughtness and shape better during wear and wash. I've made millions of sweats all over the world, and all of these are stylistic choices, accommodations, and just like one of you said, sometimes something the factory experimented with once, and then just started pushing out to their customers as a special aspect. Often the buyers and product managers don't like to get into that level of understanding - and they end up just sticking with the factory because - stuff from them just feels different. Another thing is how often the choices are made based on whatever inspiration sample the buyer had in that moment. The supreme very clearly has every hallmark of a 1990 Champion Reverse Weave - which would have cost $49 retail even back then - which they may have picked up at a vintage shop - and the dryness, weight and details just made the entire thing seem "perfect" The blue marks on the inside are from the factory and are to line up where the embroideries should go - and tend to go away in the wash. The one guy should know you don't really have any minimums on garment dying - maybe 50pieces depending on what size tubs you are working with - but also what your tolerances are on consistency. I do have to say I am very impressed with hitting the 500 exactly on such a light colorway - I would be interested to know what a dark color comes out at, my guess would be 512gsm. The grey heather marl - looking from outside is not YARN DYED - it is fibre dyed usually...can also be achieved with yarn dying a blended yarn (Meaning CVC) where the cotton takes on the color more than the poly. But the classic Grey Heather that is used on so many sweats is dyed at cotton fibre level in a blow room BEFORE it is spun into yarn - with big books of what color shades you are looking for. If you are not picking a yarn and color that is on stock - this could increase minimums tremendously - as these blow rooms are a pain in the kiester to clean up and set up.

I have two hoodies from skate brands (Nike sb and butter) both are very heavy and are pretty tight around the neck and head. I’m gonna attribute this to when you’re skateboarding. When you’re navigating through city streets or doing tricks you don’t want your hood moving around getting into your line of sight and peripheral. That really messes you up skating. So I’d assume that’s the reason the hoods are tight and heavy like that. Well maybe not the supreme one but mine are as well as that palace one.

While Palace's clothes do run almost a size smaller, the fabric is 100x better than Supreme. I currently own a Supreme box logo hoodie as well as a Palace Trifold hoodie. The cost for the supreme hoodie was $168 and the Palace hoodies was $158. Shipping was $10 for Supreme and $12 for Palace. I really do like both but I do agree the Supreme hoodie is very stiff, which is not ideal for just lounging around. Also the neck area is very tight which does kind of feel like you're being choked. However, it is a very durable hoodie so you could easily skate and fall with it on and not worry about it ripping. The Palace hoodie is a lot softer and a little baggier. My biggest problem with the Palace hoodie is that it's 80% cotton and 20% Polyester. For a $158 hoodie, the fact there is polyester in it is quite insulting and shows where they are cutting corners. Not only that, but it's made in a sweatshop in vietnam, whereas the Supreme hoodie is 100% cotton and made in Canada (Most of their T-shirts are also made in USA). Lastly, it depends on the style, but it's very rare for Palace to have embroidery on their hoodies, whereas Supreme it's very rare to NOT have embroidery on their hoodies. I believe you get more for your money with the Supreme hoodie.
