I agree with another comment. This was the best review on this car. I really enjoyed the format and the different items you covered. As a current owner of the Sport Touring Hybrid, I completely agree with your review. I have owned several 11th gen Civics and for an everyday driver, the Hybrid is the best overall. Si is more engaging because of the manual, but the Hybrid is actually a little quicker 0-60 and with the instant torque, more responsive.

Note: the regen does not reset on acceleration in Sport mode. This is handy on twisty mountain roads. I bought one of these to replace my 1991 Alfa Romeo 164S which is almost identical in size and is also FWD with 200 hp. The comfort is not quite on par with the Alfa but it measures up in every other way plus it really does get 50 mpg.
@marcinmerrimack17268 күн бұрын
The regen reset on acceleration would be a real nuisance for me. I would want maximum regen at all times. Another owner said that if the regen lever is held in a few moments, the regen won’t reset even in modes other than Sport. Can you comment on this?
@pi.actual7 күн бұрын
@@marcinmerrimack1726 I tried it and no it doesn't . Put it in sport and it does. Not an issue there are only certain circumstances when you need it and your going to select Sport for those anyway. This based on extensive experience using the system.

@@pi.actual Thanks for your reply. Disappointing. I’ve always driven a car with a manual transmission and I very much like the effect of engine braking. So even Custom mode doesn’t have the option of holding the regen setting? I certainly would not want the boost in engine noise that comes with Sport mode.
@pi.actual7 күн бұрын
@@marcinmerrimack1726 there is an INDIVIDUAL mode as well. You can custom set all features and parameters as you like including the sound. In my opinion it works great and I own a Ferrari 308 so I know all about gear shifting.
@marcinmerrimack17267 күн бұрын
@@pi.actual Yes, INDIVIDUAL mode is what I was referring to. So from what you say, I can configure the REGEN such that it doesn’t reset and engine sound to normal, among other things. And I assume that the INDIVIDUAL mode settings only need to be selected once. But once I choose INDIVIDUAL mode, does that mode remain selected once I turn the car off and then back on?

@@PSIJOEbut the base Camry is a hybrid as well about the same price has similar equipment and is bigger with rear AC vents. So to me the civic hybrid seems overpriced to me as well.
@PSIJOE9 күн бұрын
@@andynickles7505 I'm not debating that. I'm strictly talking about how the civics price has been pretty consistent. It's inflation that makes the price sound ridiculous. Even if there are more practical options for the price. Personally I'd still rather the Civic hatch. More practical and smaller. The Camry is huge. I just wish for the price the Civic got a heated steering wheel and vented seats. Rear air and USB ports would be nice, but that's low on my list. Other markets get the wheel. Of course it's nice to drive on smooth country roads with no traffic, who the heck you kidding!!! Take it to a city centre, try driving it on poorly conditioned roads in the middle of town, and show us how it is stuck in traffic on those roads LOL None of these videos really show how it is if you have to drive it for 2 hours in commute, say, in a city like New York or LA in the middle of town where the road conditions are terrible with bumps, cracks, and potholes. I bought the car about 3 weeks ago. Let me tell you, that heavy front end, is AWFUL on bad roads with bumps. You REALLY feel it bumping and bobbing due to its heavy front end, the struts having to do so much work, and they aren't enough. The rear feels fine, of course, there's nothing back there, so the independent shock do a good job back there, but every time you have to drive on bad roads, you wish the front end felt light and easy like the rear. And the MPG is not what they say. You would literally have to drive like a snail and be as easy as possible on the pedal and never push it to get anywhere close to what Honda says. I bought it because there is nothing else out there at this price point with the hybrid, and with all the options like the upgraded stereo. Toyota has the Corolla, but in order to get the same appointment like leather and the stereo, good luck, you might be waiting 3 to 6 months for that option!!!! So there ya go.

I did also take the new Civic on a road trip, which includes a wide variety of roads. I also measured fuel economy during the trip. I will release that video soon. As I said during the handling test, you can feel the added weight over fast undulations in the road. But generally, I found the Civic reasonably comfortable, considering the vehicle class it competes in.
