Awesome build. I ran a similar setup for my old single cam party horse- stock F23a block/crank/rods, PRB pistons-installed backwards, ported F22a6 head, Delta cam, H23 intake manifold-ported, Bisi replica header to 3” Thermal R&D exhaust, H2B S80 LSD trans with 4.4 final. It ran very well and had a super flat torque curve.

@@cambodianboost3945 I’m sure I do, at least some go pro video from track days and dyno days and whatnot. I’ll see what I’ve got on the laptop after work. I think the engine is actually still in use for the guy I sold the car to as well; I had it in an Accord but it was a PITA to get the tranny setup right. The shifter mostly. The new owner pulled it and put it in an EG when I sold it, not sure if that’s where the setup stayed or not.

You can build a F23a head and use j30a4/a5 35/30mm valves and j32a2 springs, little port work and have a easy 300cfm head for dirt cheap. Use J30a pistons or k20a pistons and you have a beast on a budget. f23a flows the same as f22a on the intake ports but 15 cfm more on the exhaust side. don't sleep on the F23A.

This video made me a subscriber. I've been a mechanic for 24 years and love when someone has a great plan. Everything you did was perfect. There's on one thing i want to comment about. No hate btw. Most people with stud mounted heads would have put the head on first. The reason is because sometimes, the studs kinda scratch the heads causing some aluminum to fall on the head gasket. But, you did a great job on your build. I just wanted to warn you on that. However, i sure you didn't have that problem. Keep up the great work. You got me for a subscriber!

good job on this build, fyi the F23 head has more potential then the F22A. F23 has much better exhaust cfm and is just a tad under peak intake cfm vs an F22 by like 3. F23 also has roller rocker arms so that's less friction on the valvetrain, once you port out an F23 the difference is night/day. I build F23s. I almost went the F22A head route but I couldn't justify using it over an F23.

yo this is amazing, thanks for sharing man. I have a new found respect for hondas, i blew the engine in my truck and needed something asap. Found a 01 accord lx sedan for $900, i'm blessed. I got it with 300,000 km lol put 30k on it in less than a year, sold my truck after rebuild back to the dealer. I'm now realizing the potential for these engines after getting a lil bored. I was gonna get a golf gti but realized there's really no reason to be stuck in a $500 car payment not even including the insurance so while I save money not leasing a vehicle i'm planning on building a little beast.

Awesome build man !! Love seeing the F series get some love they have a lot of potential !! Smaller mains is usually sought after in high performance engines due to crank speed on the bearings face a larger main is spinning faster than a smaller main at the same rpm but it’s not a big deal just something I picked up years ago built right it won’t matter I believe and I paint all mine also 👍🏻

The girdle on the f23 is very strong and stout especially with a forged bottom end he's golden. They are reving 100mm k27's stupid high granted its drag racing but for what hes doing the lift of the cam will determine how high he'll need to go. 8,500-9,000 road racing will be plenty no need to go higher. I'd rather have the 97mm stroke in a accord any day.
@jdmr.3346
@jdmr.3346 4 жыл бұрын
I disagree the f20b/c has the best rod ratio, high reving h, f, and has 55mm mains. The k24 engine has 55mm mains and people install the k24 crank in s2000 engines and can be done in a h series block also, check rosko racing's site. When your talking "high speed" I think the s2000 engine takes the cake making power all day to 9k stock. Makes no sense why Honda would start with 50mm mains with the beginning of the h22 and went 55mm with the h22a4 much later, then f20c, and k24.
@JaayPeeBuilt
@JaayPeeBuilt 4 жыл бұрын
Chip Watson yeah those were my thoughts since the beginning👍🏽 at this point the block isn’t a concern now I’m just curious to see how far this cam can take me😅
@jdmr.3346
@jdmr.3346 4 жыл бұрын
@@JaayPeeBuilt I wouldn't worry about that at all I'd rather have a 97mm stroke any day especially in a accord. For example a d16 has a larger stroke than a b16 and because of this it makes peak torque much sooner in the power band which is a overlooked benefit. In road racing a broad power band is much more important with a h22 transmission with a 4.2 final drive especially when it comes to a heavy Honda accord chassis. It's not like you have a f/h2b crx with a 4.4 final drive...my 2001 f23 Honda accord weighs 3000lbs. I haven't heard many engine builders stress the benefit of smaller mains for the benefit of engine speed, even rod ratio is usually the last thing they consider when building a engine. This isnt a carbon fiber F1 car revving to 15k with a unlimited budget.

I got mine from bisimoto, if he don’t have it on the website I think you can buy one by hitting up bisimoto sales directly. That’s how I got my pistons made.

Hey bro question what cam gear are you running? I just ordered the forged internals for my f22 and want to know what gears fit. I have been looking through so many fourms and sites it seems to have jumbled information. Some say d series cam gears work but they're 37teeth and the f22 is 40 tooth. The only thing I can find is the aem or blox cam gear. Any recommendations?

Pretty sure d series stopped with the 40 tooth cam gear after 1987. took me forever to find a 40 tooth adjustable cam gear. Its like they don't exist right now. I found one on ebay, some kid from Malaysia was selling a couple and I got the last one. might try contacting him and see if he has any left or will get anymore anytime soon. seller name is streetracing888. good luck.

Never got any rpm shots of the f22a/f23a high comp build you had.. was it quick? Ratings from a stock gs-r and stock h22a where would it land?

I was still breaking in the engine when I crashed it. It was just on a safe base tune with only a little timing added and it was running pretty rich. So I didn’t get to feel the full potential but it was pretty quick, way more torque than my homies ls vtec , just think super throttle responsive h22 with even more torque.

@@JaayPeeBuilt hell yeah bro. I loved how the sedan looked.. you had it about mint perfect bro.. sucks that shit happened, but they say it happens to the best of us.. the coupe will look even cleaner for version 2.0 I'm rebuilding my cd5 right now.. I was running a turbo on it but I had to many oil leaks and just keep thinking it wasn't perfect and tried to fix one thing but some other thing will fail right after.. it was a jdm f23a block and f22a head m2f4 prelude trans.. now I'm starting all over and doing everything from ground up.. wire tuck, paint the bay and shave what I can.. abs delete, and keep it all motor. Usdm f23a1 block with fresh bearings done the right way with color matched bearings for each main and rod bearings, I went off the ingraved marks on the block and matched the letters and numbers with bearings that way along with plastic gauge as well. Now I can breathe on the crank bolt and the engine will spin smooth as butter lol.. Hopefully I can get mine as clean as yours, I'm slowly getting one part at a time working as a diesel mechanic. Delta 272 regrind camshaft and bisi springs and retainers is on the top of my list. I want to go with k20a2 pistons again but I need to get my tune straight... I can't run e85 since its not available.. so I need to take timing out of a high compression base map.. I think a type r basemap would be my best choice then just take 10 or so degrees out the whole map.. idk if h22a basemap are that high of compression.. otherwise I'd just start out with that.. but my bad im rambling... I get carried away talking cars bru.. lol..
