Ive often wondered... that last bit of the video in the castle. Was that pure improv? Or a planned route?
@w3sp
@w3sp 10 жыл бұрын
It was completely planned from start to finish and took like 4 or 5 months. There's no way anyone can just load up the map and improvise a run like that...not even me, haha. If you're interested in more details about the whole planning of the run/route and the creating of the f33l movie in general: KZbin search for "zoot w3sp" and find the video with "Round 6 (part 2)" in the title. In the last coupla minutes of that part I'm talking about Defrag and f33l in general, the background voice is KOS who made the f33l movie happen.

For somebody who spend 2-3 years on defrag this is so beautiful! The air control is just simply unbelievable! The castle is completely out of this world, especially with that soundtrack, so serene and flawless and easy (yet knowing it is just simply post-human skill) Loved the editing, but would prefer only first person POV. Bravo for both of you guys! DeFrag will always be in my heart.

This is such an amazing video!!! Beautiful, perfect runs and outstanding music choices. The last castle run is completely out of this world, that level of air control! Especially when you perfectly land between the tooth's of the wall. I could never get anyway closer to that skill, but watching it is enough :)

Your channel with the piano and defrag videos made me realize how much playing an instrument and these strafe runs actually have in common. Practicing the circle strafe jump very much felt like slaving away at a Czerny Etude. And likewise, both require very precise movement or all goes to hell. I don't think it's an accident that excellent gamers are material for excellent musicians. And of course the other way round. :) Hut ab!

Most of the slowdowns are there for a reason, like the whole cityrocket run was slowed down because that is such an amazing run, nice to breakdown each rocket on the run. There were also a lot of people who wanted to see that demo at the time. The time still remains unbroken I believe.

@so2easy You airstrafe the same way you do on the ground. Forward + Sideward hold, while moving your mouse in the right ankle (slow and smooth moves). If you want to change direction during your "flight" :D, you only have to press FORWARD and move the mouse in the direction you want to go (best for 90° curves). If you want to move sidewards in the air, hold a sideward button and move your mouse smoothly to the right/left.
