Thanks so much for this.....I installed the VR mod last week, but didn't have my Touch controllers yet. Not nearly as good without the Touch. Just got finished playing it with the Touch, and man it is awesome. I am now getting crashes after loading a saved game. I tried installing and then reinstalling, etc with no fix. I used the new version with the installer, and still can't play it now. Sucks....such a good game in VR. Hopefully they will get it figured out soon.

Just a bit of an improvement on playing DOOM3 on the DK1. it's astonishing. Think about this, It will continue to get bettet over the years on more advanced VR HMD's. Also I highly recommend everyone try roomscale setup and only rotating via actually rotating your body. It's an immersion multiplier.

By that point though I'm hoping the most recent Doom has been modded, I loved that one too. Do you find you get tangled in the cables a lot with a game like this and roomscale?

F4CEpa1m x_0 cables are an issue, i use the vive extender box, so that helps. i have enough space to physically walk around corners in game and jump out of the way of incoming projectiles. two camera sensors , getting a third, although don't really need it.

+Roger Essig yeah I'm using 2 as well amd it seems good unleas my back is to the sensors. I leave the blue arrows enabled as it helps prevent cable tangle but I'm trying not to turn too much physically. For this a wireless solution seems like it would come in to its own

I haven't tried the two forward facing camera setup yet. Two diagonally opposed works good enough so far, highly recommended, i sometimes have to pause the game to unwind the cable, but it's not too often, and definitely worth it. Wireless roomscae is going to be great.

Hmm, I followed these steps using rift + touch with latest updates. (configured 2 sensors for 360) No keys work on the Title screen where it says press any key. Tried every button on both touch controllers and keyboard. Oculus menu button works though and I get a quick blast of sound whenever I access it.

Yes works a treat with both Xbox One and Xbox 360 Gamepads. This game makes me excited for the possibility of other games like 'Dead Space' to be able to be played in VR. All games are designed and developed in 3D with 3D models, I played most of them back in my Stereoscopic Gaming days.

Many thanks for the reply. The problem was that I needed a free membership to get a file of that size. I must have exceeded my available bandwidth on my first failed attempt. All downloaded and installed now. I was quite taken aback by the quality of the mod and textures. It's free experiences like this that make the investment in Oculus totally worth it. Vr seems to be working great for me but it doesn't ever want to load a saved game after I die or restart the game 😨. I Can load individual levels tho ok. I have Arizona sunshine and it blows my mind just how much better the actual gameplay from this feels so much better. Gesture based gameplay is good in moderation but I don't want to have to stop wat I'm doing to pick up ammo by grabbing pulling individual clips to me and use weird teleport movement controls.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the video setup. Everything is working perfectly....with the exception that I am getting no audio at all. I have my rift headphones removed and run all audio through the main speakers. Could this be the problem? In Rift Home, both Output and Input are set to Windows Default. In Windows, Output is to the main speakers, and Input for Rift mic.

Hey man, thanks so much for the heads up. Just did a totally fresh install and I now get audio! The only item - the game crashes at the point where the first base of a new campaign is loading for the standard game - looking around to see if anyone else is having that issue. The expansion pack game opens and plays perfectly so I'll be on that until I get a fix for standard game. Wow, having the audio working is a brand new experience. Have not seen any other glitch with the exception of what I mentioned. This might be the best thing I have on VR right now ! Thanks again my friend!

No I'm not, although I'm not sure if I've had the audio out setting in Windows set to Rift or not, as when I play normal Rift games, the audio automatically routes through the Rift. I'll check this setting and get back to you. Thanks very much for the advice!

Hi mate, make sure you are using a completely clean install of Doom 3, ie uninstall it completely from Steam, delete the install folder, and re-download a fresh copy from Steam. Then also make sure you are running the Oculus mod because the OpenVR mod will always open Steam. Finally, make sure you are starting up the Doom3 mod.exe and not just a Desktop shortcut that Steam creates when you first install Doom3 through Steam. Let me know if that helps :)

Tried it again and I just get a black void within the guardian system. If I press the buttons you hear the menu and it sounds like its loading a level and then says "BFGEdition has stopped working". If I run in Windows 7 compatibility mode it will bring the menu up but in 2D and crashes once you load a level. Will keep trying, want so badly for this to work :(

+Randy Yeager in the Steam installs folder when you created the shortcut, make 100% sure your doing that on the new Doom3 VR from the mod folder, not the original Doom 3.exe surprisingly easy mistake to make and only thing that will launch game on monitor instead of hmd. Though just to be clear, does it launch full screen on your monitor, or in a windowed mode?

F4CEpa1m x_0 I double checked and I definitely made my shortcut of the new .exe, not the original one. And it launched windowed. I am running it in compatibility mode for Windows 7, because otherwise it crashes on startup every single time (I'm on Win10). I'm going to wipe everything and start with a fresh install and see where that gets me.

Hi, where are you trying to load a saved game from? If it is from a previous install of Doom3 it will not work. Alternatively, try running one of the save games from the 'Dev' menu, then trying one of your saved games (as long as the save is from this modded version of Doom3)

No the saves are not from a previous version of Doom 3, I bought it off steam and followed the videos instructions then started playing. I just tried running a game from the "Dev" menu then tried to load a saved game and it didn't work. hmmm

I did a fresh install and saved it while i was playing the VR, but looking through my files i did find a doom 3 file which must of been from god knows when, so searched my whole PC for doom 3 files and deleted them all, doing a fresh install of the game, then ill save it at some point and see if it will load, ill let you know how it goes, made one video on this game and want to continue badly :P

On the page where you go to the bottom to download the mod, make sure you download the oculusnative one. When I went to the page, it wasn't the top one like it is in this video. The top one is the openVR one now. You don't want that one.

How do you get your game to be square, when i record it and go to edit it both eyes are the rounded ones and not square, so when i stretch one eye over you get the black on the corners, everyone ive seen play has a vive so i thought it might just be that, but youre using the rift and have it, just wondering how to do it myself

I try to go with french language, if you change from en to any language in steam option, no more voice ingame if you get the \base\strings\french.lang then rename to english.lang after having change language back to en in steam properties, written text in game switch in french but for voice, replacing file content of _sound_pc_en.resources with _sound_pc_fr.resources doesn't work :(

I'm getting 4 errors that the Doom 3 VR shortcut can't start because files are missing. However, all 4 files *ARE* in my root "Doom 3 BFG Edition" folder. +Robert Delangel sounds like your antivirus is deleting files man. All files are there. Make sure you delete the script file first as explained in the video and disable any antivirus and any Doom 3 files any mods before you start this. Let me know how you go

Hi, it is normal to start in the menu. Choose 'Campaign', then 'new game'. A cinematic will play and you will be then dropped in to your characters body

I've been playing this but for some reason it wont load certain maps?? After i complete a level then try and goto the next it goes back to the main menu with the console open.. found out the name of the map and tried starting it that way and it wont load..

JaYo1919 hi mate, there has been an issue found where Alpha labs 1 crashes on load, workaround: delete x:\xxx\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\base\generated "collision" and "models" folder, restart game.

The previous save games from other Doom 3 playthroughs won't work with any of the Doom3 mods. When using a mod you will need to start the game from the start or load one of the levels in the 'Dev' menu of the game

F4cepa1m- I got everything downloaded and i get to the menu 2 things: 1. the screen in my rift looks just like a movie screen 2. when i try to load the game it gets stuck on a hour glass- and my computer says "DOOM 3 BFG EDITION has stopped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. I got it to look like it wants to work in vr but after i try to launch the campaign mode, it shows up top were i can type stuff in. i can push the keyboard key to make the window disappear but the game just stays at the main menu and wont start playing the game. if i try to start a new game it just does the same thing any help would be appreciated would like to play this in vr thanks

Thanks man, you fixed my problem! The game boots up now with no errors. But now I have a bigger problem :D I took out my rift headphones because quite often only one of them would work (a fairly common issue apparently), and thus I use my speakers or standard headphones. Any idea of a workaround?

+danFink yeah man, try 'Jdownloader'. It's a free download management tool, it'll work with that. Also disable any antivirus you have while downloading, I found Avast deleted a file or two without telling me the first time I tried, all false negatives though so sall good

Thanks for the reply I was able to get it by installing mega. I was just trying it through my browser before. However the program doesn't work for me with the textures installed .. a small window with a ton of failed processes in blue pops up when I start it

Essentially just Download Doom 3 from Steam, download the links in the description, and copy them to where I show you in the video in that same order :) But I hear you, I wish Oculus and the developers of these games would just port them so I can just buy it in Oculus Home, put on my Rift and hit play.. BoomStick R Us weird. You can just map them manually in the controller settings menu. For example map left turn to left analog stick. Will only take a couple of minute but will def work

so when you play, you turn left and right with your stick but you aim within that view with your controllers? I was under the impression you were able to get it to where I can left and right by turning my controllers

BoomStick R Us the left thumbstick on the controller makes me walk forward or strafe left and right. The thumbstick on the right controller turns my body, but when I turn my head or actually turn around that also turns my body
