Especially for the F4U-4 and F4U-4B you benefit dropping your landing gear when going around 600kmh to drop your speed. It works wonders in dogfights and your enemies look at you weird when you're dropping your gear but you're using it as an airbrake. F4U is also god-tier rate fighter. I love using the 1D/1A to get into those flat low alt two circle fights. I just go lag pursuit, slot in, and then they panic. Really fun to do this to Yaks and La-5s

@@hav3nWT I did a few tests in regards to the landing gear, in regards to how much drag you produce, and while flat you produce over 415 kg of drag, gear out is over 800kg. Whilst diving is you produce around 3000kg and gear out almost 8000kg Shows how sturdy that landing gear is.

The camera thing happens to me quite a bit in heavy maneuver fights. It can legitimately be disorienting. Having a good mental picture of what is going on can allow you the time to safely reset the camera during maneuvers without losing positioning.

Check out the P-51C video I got posted. A lot of the same principles apply except your plane actually has a very powerful engine. Vs jets you want to bait them into a turn fight like you’re a zero/spitfire. For props your want to play like a P-51.

It does have horrible energy retention in every metric that isn't linear energy retention where level flight top speed matters more than climb rate or dive limit. A la about 5 degrees above or below the horizon.

Higher speed means more energy. The best players know how to utilize speed to out energy players more than raw climb rate.
