When I use to play online the engine analyst told me f6 was the best move, so I submitted a bug report on the grounds that GM Ben Finegold says never play f6.

😂😂😂😂 F6 sometimes is not only the best move but a book move. Engines love to play F6 sometimes of F3, because engines don't care, they can calculate everything... But Hunans need to be much more careful because any mistake now will come with brutal consequences!

0:25 I'm higher rated than this person, and I'd be lying if I tried to say I actually understand what "positional" play means. So, I have to ask: do they actually know something I don't, or are they just kinda trying to sound smart?

I don't think that it makes much sense to talk about a "positional player" at these ratings. It's a bit like asking what branch of mathematics does a middle-schooler specialize in. Of course, he may feel more curiosity or propensity towards some fields, but he doesn't really specialize in anything. They're probably not trying to sound smart either, just thinking too much about what they want their "style" to be (which is, thinking about it at all - style is like an accent, not a deliberate thing).

They played well for their rating But it's pretty common at that rating to just wake up inspired for one game and then blunder your queen on move 2 in the next
