F80/F82 M3/M4 Engine Radiator and Fan Removal - Radiator Leaking and Fan Broken

In this video I'm going to share my progress as I try and figure out how to remove the fan assembly and main engine radiator out of my 2015 BMW M3. As of now I don't think there's another video like this out there so apologies if there are any mistakes here.

Thanks for your video. I just found a puncture in my F80 M3 radiator and as I was removing the assembly, I noticed that my fan had almost identical damage (altho a smaller section) to yours. So I spun the fan around to where the damage to the radiator occurred and it lined up exactly. I think that when the fan lost the chunk of plastic ring around the edge, it contacted the radiator and cut it. I wonder if the same thing happened in your case. Oddly, this doesn't seem to be a very common failure based on not finding much about it on the forums and stuff. Given that the fan costs over $1100 for the genuine BMW part, you'd think this would be heavily talked about if it was a widespread issue. It's really unfortunate that they didn't make just the blade plastics a separate replaceable part. I'd much rather spend $50 on new blade plastic than $1100 on a new fan when the motor, wiring, and shroud are all completely fine. What did you end up using to fix yours?

Can we replace the ac condenser whilst still leaving main rad in place via this method. ?

just had to address a coolant leak on my xc70 today as well. I wasn't so lucky as it ended up being my water pump so now im just trying to remind myself its cheaper than a new engine while I close all the tabs i had open for the coilovers I was planning to get

Awesome tutorial! Thanks for taking the time and sharing since like you mentioned I haven't find any other videos explaining this process. Quick question, as far as removing the fan itself, besides the bracket holding it in place from the top, is there any other screws or anything to remove the fan? Currently attempting to change my serpentine belt, but unfortunately since I have the crankhub bolt capture its been a PITA to remove the AC compressor belt. Thank you again!

Hey there! Sorry for the delay in responding. You do have to unbolt from underneath the car the electric water pump, but yeah it's mostly just brackets from the top.

How the heck do you get the fan assembly out? Is it secured at the bottom or something??

It was a pain, but it did come out the top.
